Not being your parents... it's such a hard thing to do. Amazing how much in ingrained, and how difficult it can be.

I can just imagine the picture. You describe it well--and all the emotions that can flood back when looking at old photos.

This is so lovely and nuanced. Thanks for sharing it. My father died 15 years ago, but I sometimes feel that I see/know him better now than I did when I was alive.

Mm, I feel this way too. It's harder than I thought it would be, sometimes, which makes me appreciate the effort my parents made on my behalf a lot more now that I'm older.

I think we can all be better if we try. I give people a lot of credit for making the effort. So many are content to just let things be, not to strive for anything more. I don't want to be that person.
