"You're different." Kyung says to him one night after they finished their schedules and they're all doing their own things. Jiho barely raises an eyebrow or acknowledges his friend, he is too focused on trying to write some lyrics and get that beat out of his system. The rapper rolls his eyes and nudges Jiho with his elbow, eyebrows slightly furrowed. "Jiho, you're different."
"What do you mean?" He ends up replying which comes out more as a mumble, resisting the urge to throw his book across the room. There's something wrong with that song in his head and he can't put his finger on it and it just annoys him to no end.
"You and y-" Kyung starts but he is cut off by Yukwon walking into the room, the two boys looking up at him. Jiho grins when the singer greets them through a yawn and puts his book and pencil aside and Kyung almost wants to hit his own face against the wall because they're both so oblivious.
(Of course he won't do it, because his face is precious thank you very much.)
Everyone has noticed. At first, it's barely here, it's a light touch when they pass by each other, it's a smile whenever their eyes meet through the crowd, it's a shoulder offered for a nap on the way back to the dorm. Jaehyo doesn't say a word but his wide eyes are enough as he nudges Taeil.
And then it escalates through promoting Very Good.
It's a piggyback on stage, they laugh about it in backstage but Jihoon and Minhyuk exchange a few glances and Kyung joins them. They all know each other very well, they're all friends so they're surprised but don't say a word. Jiho is happy, Yukwon too.
It's during the fansigns, feeding each other, laughing together, Jiho whispering things into Yukwon's ear. The fans are here so they can't show their surprise when Jiho takes Yukwon's hand in his to warm
it up. It could be fanservice. But there's something that has changed. Kyung knows his friend by heart and he sees it in his eyes, in the way he looks at the dancer.
But they still don't say a thing, and they wait.
They witness Jiho grabbing Yukwon's nape and kissing his cheek and the look they give each other afterwards, Yukwon's lips slightly parted and Jiho's eyes and Jiho's smile as they finish the performance.
Nobody talks about it, Yukwon is quiet, always has been but Minhyuk knows better. He sees the way Yukwon briefly touches the spot of skin that has been kissed when he thinks nobody is looking. He sees his eyes close slightly and he can almost hear his heartbeat increasing.
They want to laugh in disbelief when Jiho loses his words after he glanced at Yukwon and he looked back. They don't see it when it happens but it's when they check the video of the interview, they notice Jiho's flushed face and his eyes looking away like a girl after she looked at her crush.
Jihoon makes some comments about something totally different so Jiho won't feel uneasy because he feels like his hyung is struggling with something, like, he is trying to do something but he doesn't know how and he is afraid of messing things up.
That night while Jiho is at the studio for x reason and after they all tip-toed their way out the bedrooms to not wake Yukwon up, they gather in the living room to finally talk about what's happening because the glances are nice but they need to put words on it.
"Kyung, you know Jiho. We aren't crazy, right?" Jaehyo asks, sitting legs crossed on the couch, expectantly looking at the rapper who nods.
"There's definitely something going on." Minhyuk comments, a small smile on his lips. It might affects them but he knows that Yukwon is the most affected by Jiho's behavior; he can almost sees his brain working as he tries to understand Jiho, he notices how Yukwon sleeps less despite their schedules, eyes wide opened and staring up at the ceiling while a hand rests on his chest.
"Well, Kwonnie is pretty. I understand Jiho." Taeil shrugs, followed soon by a deep and annoyed "hyung!" coming from Jihoon. It relaxes them a bit, they laugh quietly but their faces quickly turns back serious.
"I can't deal with all that sexual tension." The visual shakes his head and Kyung makes a face although he agrees. They should lock the guys in a room but Jiho would get so awkward, he'd be able to mess up.
"What do we do then?" They stay silent at the question and Kyung wants to laugh. Jiho is usually the one with the good ideas, with the songs, with everything, but now he is the problem because he can't keep his hands off Yukwon.
"We can help him to confess." Jihoon says and the front door opens at this moment so they freeze before casually slipping into positions and fake discussions. Jiho walks in and raises his eyebrows, a chuckle leaving his lips even though Kyung notices, oh yes, he notices the flicker of disappointment on his face when Jiho scans the room and doesn't see Yukwon.
"What are you guys doing?" He asks, sitting down next to Jihoon who can't help it but to giggle that weird giggle of his.
"Just talking." Minhyuk shrugs and casually kicks Jaehyo's leg away from his side, instantly earning a protest from the visual. Jiho laughs a little and shakes his head, and they all glance at him then at each other before he stands up, clapping his hand onto Kyung's shoulder.
"Don't forget that we meet our fans tomorrow, so don't stay up too late." He says and disappears down the hallway, the door of the bedroom closing quietly behind him.
Jaehyo lets out a dramatic sigh and Minhyuk rolls his eyes at him while Taeil agrees with the leader as he stands up and bids them good night. The living room is soon empty and quiet, Kyung trying to figure out what the hell is going on as a last thought before sleep takes over him.
The next day is free of any event although Kyung has never seen such a smile on Jiho's face when Yukwon comes out with a new haircolor, not much different than Jiho's. Nothing much happens, really, until the fanmeet.
Jiho and Yukwon are standing side by side, obviously, and Kyung is next to Yukwon as well. He is not jealous, no. He just pays attention, they're all on the edge because who knows what Jiho might do in front of the fans, and god, they don't need another scandal.
It's cold but they all joke and play around. Taeil and Jihoon do their usual fanservice and the fans scream happily. And suddenly the screams get louder and Kyung turns around and Jiho is slipping an arm around Yukwon's waist and they're close and Kyung feels like he has to step in, so he grabs Jiho's arm to pull it away.
"Not here, Jiho." He mumbles although there is a smile on his face. Yukwon is frozen between the two and Jiho looks at him before turning to the fans, as if it did not happened.
Minhyuk glances at Yukwon who doesn't fail his title of smile representative, then he catches Kyung's eyes and they both look at Jiho whose smile seems a bit too stretched, it doesn't reach his eyes for a few seconds.
That's how, hours later, Kyung finds himself trying to talk to Jiho. But he doesn't reply, and when Yukwon walks into the bedroom, Jiho looks like he only sees him. He stands up to only sit back down next to the dancer, running his fingers through Yukwon's messy hair. Exasperated, Kyung leaves the room and plops down on the couch next to Jihoon, whining about how stupid and oblivious Jiho and Yukwon are. The maknae laughs quietly but deeply and they watch TV until Jaehyo walks in, cheeks red. Kyung raises an eyebrow but he doesn't have the time to ask what is going on that a laugh can be heard followed by a groan.
Within seconds, Minhyuk is at the door, putting his shoes on, mumbling about how he isn't going to listen to this and everyone soon follows him, Taeil putting his hands on his ears, repeating "ew, ew, ew" even when they're outside.
"Do you think they understood now?" Yukwon asks, a smile on his lips as he stares up at the ceiling, Jiho planting kisses all over his bare stomach before playfully biting down on his ribs.
"I hope so." He mumbles against the skin of the dancer before looking up at him, grinning. "We can always make them listen. Just in case."
"No way." They laugh and soon, they're a mess of sheets and limbs and Jiho can't stop himself but to press his lips over and over again Yukwon's who smiles brightly into the kisses. "Jaehyo hyung will tell them that he saw us kiss and get naked anyway."
"Ah right, I almost forgot that we were naked for a reason." Before Yukwon can reply, Jiho kisses him again but deeply this time, and it's only hours later, after two became one and after a long and warm shower that Yukwon finds the strength to talk again although he needs to clear his throat. Besides him, Jiho is holding him tightly, grinning smugly.
"You're so proud of yourself, huh?" The dancer laughs, burying his face into Jiho's warm skin, the tip of his nose brushing against the dark letters of his tattoo. Jiho hums in agreement and kisses Yukwon's forehead, rubbing his arm slowly.
"You like it." Yukwon doesn't reply because Jiho is right and they both know it. He tugs the blanket closer to cover them both and they fall asleep, unaware of a door being opened and a few heads peeking in curiously.
"Nobody ever, EVER believes me! I told you all they were being all naked and that they were kissing! You laughed at me, but AH! I was right!" Jaehyo exclaims then takes a sip of beer while Kyung is scratching at his temple.
It's true that they didn't believe him at first. It is Ahn Jaehyo after all but for once, it happened that he didn't lie and Minhyuk is now patting his back to calm him down. Taeil and Jihoon are laughing and whispering to each other and Kyung rolls his eyes.
"When we think about it," Minhyuk starts, "we were the dumb ones." Taeil agrees then points at Kyung saying that it was all his fault because he is the one that was trying to help Jiho when obviously, he was doing well on his own. The rapper protests and Jihoon agrees with his precious Taeillie hyung so they start arguing. Jaehyo joins when someone walks on his leg and Minhyuk just stares at them, shaking his head.
It's nothing different from usual, it's just who they are and when the manager walks in a while later and sees the mess and the sleeping boys, he just sighs and kicks them, telling them to go to their beds or they'll be complaining in the morning because their bodies will be sore.
"I know someone who is surely going to be sore even though he slept in a bed." Jihoon whispers and they all burst out laughing.
A door opens and a sleepy Jiho leans against the doorframe, smirking. "That'd be you because I would have kicked your ass so hard you won't be able to sit for days." They're all surprised for a second, but Kyung quickly mirrors his smirk.
"Now, now. I'm sure Yukwonnie would like it better if you focused on his ass." Jiho opens his mouth to reply but Yukwon's muffled curse can be heard instead, and the leader's smirk widens.
"I'm going to take care of my boyfriend's ass, good night idiots." He laughs and closes the door, not missing the faces of his band members at this only thought of him taking care of Yukwon's ass - which he already did.
"Horny kids." Kyung huffs and goes to his bedroom, punching Jihoon's shoulder when the maknae said that he was jealous because he wasn't getting laid. Another fight almost follows, but thankfully, Yukwon's playful moans quickly stops everything and they all reach their beds within seconds, Jiho's loud laugh filling the apartment.
