I don't live very far from Harper Lee. You know, she also wrote for Vogue and McCalls magazines back in the 1960's. You might get lucky at flea markets or eBay for finding those. Of course, if you believe rumours, you can check out other Harper Lee books published under the name of Truman Capote. ;-)
I too thought about Wild Bill Burroughs; but I think I would either take Kerouac or F. Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald's word choices and style are just goose grease on a linoleum floor slick. Jack's style was as free as the breeze. "A period means a stop.".
