Hi Kathy, thanks for your comment. Yes, angst level was dangerously high. And yes, Ennis has no clue what to do with his misery, except wallow in it. But now, things have been done and said. Hold on and see what happens next...

Wow. I'm normally such a chicken when it comes to angst, but this chapter was just so powerful and well-written I couldn't tear my eyes away. Well done!

Hi sepia, thanks for your comment, I'm sorry about the angst, but glad you got through it ok. The level will be much reduced from now on so hopefully it will be easier for you to read.

I approached this chapter with one eye shut b/c I confess I couldn't make it all the way through the last one... not b/c I don't like angst, it's just that I knew a 21 year old that actually did drown in an icy lake late at night. As desolate as Jack is feeling, he is alive and when there's life, there's hope ..... I do hope that's a lesson they'll both take to heart.

This was beautifully written; all the pain and confusion and panic jumped off the page. I do have a question about Ryan, though, and maybe I just need to do a re-read. Do we know why he would think to look under Jack's pillow? I can't imagine that Ennis putting hands on one of the campers will lead to anything but big, big trouble for him. What a mess. I'm hoping that maybe Bob can be of some help, maybe? In any event, they're all going to have to deal with the aftermath whether they're ready or not. Great chapter. Thanks!

Marie

Hi Marie, thanks for your comment, and I'm really sorry that Jack's foolishness brought back sad memories for you :( As for your comment about Ryan. Well, I tried to convey that what happened was Ryan collected all the dirty laundry when Jack and Ennis were away overnight, and this was when he would have seen the t-shirt under Jack's pillow. I hope that makes sense. You are right, he wouldnt have had a reason to otherwise. There is so much going on now for them, but the angst level will be low next time, I promise. Thanks for reading.

Oh brother, what on earth is going to happen now? That awful Ryan; he is so filled with hate. Poor Jack. And I wonder if Bob really does have an inkling about what might be going on with Jack? He seems to be a good friend for Jack, someone he might be able to confide in, besides Meli. And poor Ennis, he's just so insecure and afraid to believe Jack, I think. He just needs to trust what Jack is telling him. Oh, can't wait for the next update to see what happens next. Love this story.

hi Iv2walk, thanks for your comment. Bob actually doesnt know anything, he just likes Jack and is concerned about him. Things will become clearer in the next chapter, I hope.
