I find myself giving the songs a pass just because I love hearing their voices, shredded by engineering or not but I recognize that it isn't always the highest quality of music. There were definitely moments I was disappointed.
Personally, I thought the attempts to capture the dance-like nature of the super popular music on the charts was a little awkward but I still think there are some gem moments here. Honestly, I thought it better than their last album. I don't know why, but Vol. 9 seemed more thrown together to me. No one song caught my attention and the overall feel as an album was "oh it's alright." This time, I feel the disastrous moments were maybe a bit of overthinking. Like "Stay." I love that song but the instrumental drove me nuts the 2nd and 3rd time I was going through the album.
