“Yeah…yes…sure…okay. No…no, it’s okay. Okay…bye.” Yoseob hung up the phone and sat mindlessly down onto the chair.
He took a deep breath in and let out a big sigh. Yet another disappointment, another date cancelled. This has got to be the 5th date that was cancelled this month…he didn’t know what was happening. All of a sudden, things haven’t been going well between them. Doojoon just…didn’t seem like himself anymore. In the beginning they would go everywhere together. Doojoon would take him to the amusement park, romantic dinners, and to the movies also, but now…he seemed more concerned with something else.
Doojoon never mentioned anything to Yoseob, but just said he was busy or it was an emergency. Of course Yoseob wouldn’t suspect a thing…not if he trusted him that much. Yoseob could never come around to ask himself questions of Doojoon’s whereabouts, simply because he didn’t want to know, and he somewhat…trusted him.
Yoseob sat there on the padded chair, not knowing what to do now…since the date was cancelled. He swirled the straw that sat calmly inside his glass cup filled with Teo iced tea. He leaned in closer and sipped his drink slowly as he let the cool liquid flow gently down his throat. Then after a few moments, he stopped and noticed his cup was empty.
“Aishhh…” he complained, shaking the cup filled only with ice.
“You want some more ice tea?” Yoseob heard a man laughing as he heard those exact words.
Yoseob turned around and saw a tall man around the same age as he was, but…more built. He looked up to get a view of his face. He was stunned at who it was. Yoseob dropped the cup from his hand as it landed back down onto the glass table.
“T-teo Iced Tea boy?!” he shouted.
The man had a quizzical expression on his face that later led to a large smile. He laughed.
“I have a name you know.” He teased, “I’m Kikwang, and you?” he held out his hand, gesturing Yoseob for a handshake.
“Oh….sorry…I’m Yoseob.” He laughed slightly reaching out his hand to shake Kikwang’s.
“I guess my advertisement does work.” Kikwang laughed once more, shifting his eyes to Yoseob’s empty cup that was once filled with iced tea.
“Yeah…the ice tea is good.” He replied, noticing where Kikwang was looking at “But…what are you doing here? Aren’t you like a big time celebrity?”
“Nahh…I like to be “normal” I guess. Not really the type to hang out with stars and do a lot of celebrity work.” Kikwang shrugged. “Mind if I take a seat?”
Yoseob shook his head.
“I don’t mind, go ahead.” Yoseob replied in a soft, mellow voice.
“Thanks!” Kikwang flashed a quick smile and sat down on the chair across from where Yoseob was sitting.
The two talked for a while and learned things from each other. They both had many things in common. Both of them got to be friends quite quickly and traded phone numbers so they could keep in touch.
Yoseob was still shocked at how he could be such good friends with a celebrity. He looked down at the still table in front of him.
Everyday I shock. Every night I shock…
“Oops, sorry. That’s my phone.” Kikwang apologized after realizing Yoseob was a little surprised from the sudden cell phone ringing.
“Yeah? Oh hey! You’re done already?! Dang…that was quick. Okay, sure. I’ll be there in a few. Kay, see you later Yoonie.” With a large smile on his face, Kikwang hung up.
Yoseob paused as he looked up.
“Hey, sorry, but I’ve got to run. It was nice meeting you. Let’s keep in touch, ok?” Kikwang said, getting up from the chair.
“It…it’s alright. Okay, bye.” Yoseob slowly waved goodbye as Kikwang ran off to his next destination.
Yoseob once again looked down at his empty cup…a little shocked.
“Yoonie…? Isn’t that---“
