1. Lost? - Coldplay

Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop

Percy stands at the dock, uncertain.

Son of Neptune, you appear... uneasy.

Percy's back stiffens. He hadn't heard the wolf approach. Sure enough, to his left is the huge white wolf. She exerts a graceful power that impresses Percy.

"Lupa," he sighs. "I just wish I could remember how I got here."

What matters now is that you are here. You are wasting precious time mourning your memories. Various trials await you back at the hearth.

Percy raises an eyebrow. "What trials?"

2. Where Does the Good Go - Tegan and Sara

Where do you go with your broken heart in tow
What do you do with the left over you
and how do you know when to let go
where does the good go

With every day that Percy remains missing, Annabeth finds it harder and harder to concentrate.

One minute, she's looking over maps of the American south west, and the next she's thinking about the green eyes she had gazed into before submerging herself in what would be the best underwater kiss ever. Another moment she's trying to show the new girl, Piper, around the cabins, and the next she's thinking about how she led another camper to the Hermes Cabin, so many years ago.

"You miss him," Rachel states, a fact rather than a question.

Annabeth runs a hand over her face.

"I miss him like the air I breath," she relents, letting her emotions free for a brief moment. Rachel says nothing, squeezing Annabeth's arm tightly.

"We'll find him," Rachel states, doubt creeping into her voice.

3. Enchanted - Taylor Swift

Your eyes whispered "have we met?"
Across the room your silhouette starts to make it's way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks like passing notes in secrecy
And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you

He reacts to her before he actually lays eyes upon her.

In a few quick moves he's got his sword pointed at the base of her throat. The training sessions with Gwen had really come in handy; Percy admits to himself silently that the hours of rigorous practice were totally worth it.

"Percy," the girl breathes, nearly coming undone at the sight of him. She's acting like he doesn't have her in mortal peril. He doesn't like that.

"Who are you?" he asks her. His words are like a slap-- the girl flinches back, but Percy's got a grip tight on the base of her neck. The girl's eyes widen.

"Annabeth, are you okay?" a voice calls out from the bushes. Suddenly, Percy is surrounded by what looks like an entire phalanx of teenagers, all decked out in war apparel.

"Put the sword down, Percy," says a tall, skinny, dark haired boy. "Annabeth, you knew it would be like this." Now he appeared to be speaking to grey-eyed girl. The girl doesn't respond until he lets her go. All his fighting instincts tell him to keep her as a hostage, but something deep down tells him that she will not harm him. Upon her release, she backs away a couple of steps.

"My name is Annabeth Chase," she finally begins, not to the skinny boy behind her, but to Percy himself. "And I'm here to rescue you."

4. Siren Song - Bat For Lashes

Are you my family?
Can I stay with you a while?
Can I stop off in your bed tonight?
I could make you smile

It's too unreal, Percy decides. These people--these soft Greeks... they were really his family?

He dives into the pool, feeling almost immediately better once submerged. The water has always soothed him, and this troubling time was no exception.

When he surfaces, ten minutes later, she's standing at the edge with a towel.

"That used to scare me," she smiles down at him. Rolling up her jeans, she sticks her feet in the pool. He swims to her side.

He takes her hand.

"Percy," Annabeth begins.

"They told me I loved you," Percy cuts in. He looks Annabeth in the eye, squeezing her fingers tight.

"They shouldn't have done that," Annabeth says softly, staring out across the water. Her eyes glaze over for a brief moment, her mind clearly in another place and time... and then she looks down at him sweetly, sadly.

"I don't remember," Percy says, hating himself for disappointing her.

"I know," she murmurs.

"I wish I did," he says after a long pause. "I swear, it must have been some spell that switched Jason and me... because you're pretty hard to forget."

Annabeth blushes, and the gratification Percy feels deep in his chest is enough... for now.

5. Near To You - A Fine Frenzy

You and I have something different
And I'm enjoying it cautiously
I'm battle scarred, I am working oh so hard
To get back to who I used to be

The little that does come back is not enough to be proud of; Percy's disappointment is reflected in Annabeth's eyes, though he knew she would never voice her doubt.

"Sally was so worried," Annabeth tells him. "Your mother, I mean. I called her yesterday--strictly forbidden here at camp, but... well. You taught me how to break the rules, and I figured I owed her some sort of explanation."

Percy nods in thanks. To think that his mother, whoever she was, worried over him... well, it made him sick to his stomach. For a brief second, he sees a flash of what was. Percy suddenly starts to laugh in relief at it all.

"Blue cake," Percy grins, shaking his head back and forth. "Mom always made me blue cake for my birthday, 'cause it's my favorite color. God, she and I would go crazy with the food coloring."

When he finally turns back to Annabeth, her face is radiant with joy.

"You remembered," she says, smiling broadly.

"A bit," Percy says, but the pride in his voice is unmistakeable.

6. Yet - Switchfoot

All attempts have failed
All my heads are tails
She's got teary eyes
I've got reasons why
I'm losing ground and gaining speed
I've lost myself or most of me
I'm headed for the final precipice
But you haven't lost me yet

"You need to back off," the dark-eyed girl bites at Annabeth, knife pointed at her throat. Annabeth unsheathes her own dagger, and the two begin to circle each other.

"Aggripina," Percy shouts, trying to calm the girl. "Annabeth's just trying to help--"

"She's trying to take you away from me!" Aggripina shouts. The rest of the camp goes deadly quiet. "And there's no way I'm going down without a fight."

"Hey," Percy says kindly, laying a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Don't worry about me."

Annabeth shudders in anger.

"All I ever do, Percy Jackson," she says, rage deep in her voice, "is try and save you. And this is what I get in return? A cheater?"

She knows that her words aren't fair, but they feel good to say all the same.

"Either give up and stay here with these... animals," Annabeth yells back, making a clear ultimatum underlined the intense gesturing with her dagger, "or come home. With me."

Percy stalks away, leaving behind two seething women. Annabeth shoots Aggripina a glare before departing as well.

7. Real Love - Regina Spektor

More I didn't love before,
But in my heart I wanted more;
Seems like all I really was doing
was waiting for you

The next day, they spar. Every blow hurts. Every blow is to cut, or maim. Some to kill.

Percy can feel the anger radiating off Annabeth's sword, the way she cuts and jabs at him. The speed with which she can move the sword around is staggering, and after around two hours, Percy can no longer keep up the intensity of their duel. One slow swing and Annabeth has him at the throat.

"I hear that at your camp, you get a favor for winning a bout," Annabeth says, breathless. Percy nods.

"Usually the winner nicks the opponent on the cheek and has them do their chores for the week, but it varies," he shrugs.

"Come here," she says, sheathing her sword.

In a moment she's cradling his head in her hand.

"Annabeth--" Percy starts, but the girl brings their lips together before he can finish the word.

About ten seconds into the kiss, Percy begins to kiss her back with such intensity that Annabeth goes weak in the knees.

Finally they part, leaning their foreheads together.

"It's been a while, Wise Girl," he says softly.

Annabeth's knees nearly give out in sheer relief.

"Missed you, Seaweed Brain," she breathes, clutching her arms around his neck. Soon, he's holding her up as she shakes silent tears of joy into the side of his neck.

"I love you so much," he whispers.

"You better," she half-sobs, half-laughs, taking the sides of his face into her hands. She presses another hard kiss against his lips.

"Let's go home," he says with a smile.
