Sam smiled brightly. "In a really nervous, flashbacky kind of way."
Her grin mellowed to pure. "It's going to be fine, Mom. We'll be back to Brady in no time flat. You'll see; it'll just take us a little time to get our sea legs, and then we'll be back the way it was. You know . . . back when things were good."
"You're right," Jane said, releasing the breath she'd been holding as she'd waited for Sam to answer. I guess it's now or never, Jane thought to herself. She knocked on the door and waited for Cat to answer.
Packed and ready to go since 4am -- she couldn't sleep -- Caitlin had spent most of the morning staring at the wall. She was really excited to go home. Like really really excited and yet...at the same time...she was terrified.
Moving across the room, she tried to push back her worries. She was going to open this door and her mother and Sam would be standing on the other side. She was finally going to see her sister. She was finally going to go home -- back to her own room...well...the room she shared with Sam. But still. Their room, her room...full of her things.
Taking one final deep breath, she pulled the door open.
Jane felt the tears immediately spring to her eyes when she saw Cat. It felt like she hadn't seen her in years. She looked so different, and yet the same. Jane rushed forward and wrapped her arms around her daughter.
"Catie you look so good," Jane muttered as she embraced the girl.
