Sometimes fathers are just way too nosey. When is he going out of town again? Oh that's right...next week! Maybe then Josh will come over. So lets add a sexy nightie to the list of things to get. Thank God for Nic, she's always so much better at picking those things out. Oh and she needed a new sweater to go with her new skirt. A trip to Prada was definitely in order. Daddy's credit card...check. Brooke added it all to the mental list she had going on in her head as she headed out to Nicole's car.
"Thanks for honking. I was afraid he'd never let me out of there." Brooke said strapping herself into the front seat.
"I'm telling you, Brookie. We need to find your father a hobby or a girl or something." She put the car into drive and her foot on the pedal. Squealing off towards the highway, she slipped on a pair of sunglasses.
"Once he gets a life of his own, he'll be much less concerned with yours."
Brooke was silent for a moment. She hadn't ever really thought of her father dating another woman. It had been just the two of them for the last eight years, and he'd never really shown any interest. There had been that one lady from his office about five years ago, but she hadn't really liked Brooke so she was never seen again. Brooke didn't know why Nicole's suggestion made her feel a twinge of anger, but she shook it off. It was just an innocent suggestion. Besides maybe a hobby wouldn't be so bad. He really did need a life of his own.
"You know, you're right. Can you believe he actually wanted me to invite Josh to dinner. How awkward would that be?"
"Very. Boyfriends and family never mix. I can't remember the last time I let the parentals meet one of mine." Nicole shook her head. "Oh right. Never."
Nicole was about to make some crack about the success rate of those couples, but instead decided to concentrate on how Brooke looked in the top. "I love it...you need it."
Brooke smiled at her friend then turned and looked at herself in the mirror. "You know what? You're right, as always." She met Nic's eyes in the mirror and her smile grew. Nicole was a the best friend she could ask for, and she suddenly couldn't wait for the new year to begin. She walked back into the dressing room and pulled the top over her head. She looked fleetingly down at her body before quickly pulling her other shirt back over her head. "So have you given any thought to tryouts next week?"
Taking the jacket off and slinging it over her arm -- it was so coming home with her -- she turned to face the direction of the dressing rooms. "Tons. There's a couple new faces that I think are going to be great additions to the squad...real quality stock."
Brooke tilted her head as she considered what Nicole said. "I hadn't really had a set idea. I was just hoping something new would catch my eye, but now that you mention it, it couldn't hurt," Brooke said with a chesire grin. Nic always brought out her inner naughty self.
"No. Not at all. A good pair of heels and Josh will be putty in your hand." She grinned and picked up a pair of boots that would go great with the jacket she just bought.
