dogs get scared by new surroundings. you need to give it time...a couple of months at least.

he'll adjust - make sure that he has a schedule and stick to it...for some reason rigid schedules place animals at ease...

don't give up just yet.

but ryan, he's bit everyone that he has been around at least once. not just a nip, but full on clamping down, drawing blood, not letting go biting. he just started growling at all little kids five days ago, like ?!?!

i'm willing to give him time but i can't have a major lawsuit on my hand. and i cant watch anyone get majorly hurt by him nor do i want to be hurt...

i don't know...i'm just worried about it. especially since ive now found out that he bit and didnt let go of the female foster parent's forearm in the last foster family. and that before that, he was returned to the shelter after biting the girlfriend of this couple that adopted him. hes totally female aggressive...

if you think you have to give him back, remember there are tons of organizations trying to find homes for displaced pets from the hurricane. just a thought. hope he stops biting though!

lots of people raise dogs to be unfriendly and vicious, and it's hard to reverse that kind of early conditioning. i don't think anyone would think less of you for giving up a dog that is dangerous. i care about animals as much as the next person (well, the next non-vegetarian person) but your own safety and the safety of others does come first.

that being said my cat totally bites and scratches everyone all the time, it's her way of "playing". but she's littler, so it's manageable.

you could always get a puppy...or uhm, nintendogs.

I've got to agree with this; conditioning from youth can be very hard to reverse. And I mean, dogs and cats will sometimes bite while playing - my parents' puppy does it all the time - but you can tell that it's a very different kind of thing. If it weren't everyone, I'd say give him time, but since it's with everyone, you've really got to look out for safety.
