gray matters

i'm just wondering why there's always a gray area point in an opposite sex friendship (if you're heterosexual). it is as if the thought of, "am i attracted to him? COULD i be attracted to him? oh god, is he attracted to me?" is inevitable. and it doesn't even necessarily mean that you actually have feelings for him, it may just be curiosity. maybe
