Their parents probably don't know. Parents aren't very good at paying attention these days. Even if they did know, they probably wouldn't understand.

Does it annoy the cats? Remember, kids are kids. You are bigger than them, and can talk to them, and maybe teach them. Tell them how that bothers the cat, and take the opportunity to teach them that animals are wonderful and deserve love and to be treated well.

You, yourself, have often told us about how you hate how humans treat animals. This is how you make a difference. Get 'em when they're young and their parents aren't looking.

Now.... if they're older... say 8+ and being dickwads.... then you get a pellet gun and shout, "GET OFF ME PROPERTY!" and fire some shots.
