Long peppers are indeed long

Sensibly, the EU's moving toward mandating electric vehicles make some kind of sound, to make up for the lack of the godawful racket internal combustion engines make. Here's what TfL's buses will sound like, when stationary, and then, when moving. It's surprisingly delightful. =:D

Rather a cool comparison of Chinese and Western wheelbarrows - no, ( Read more... )

Thank you. ^_^ I'm so pleased with how it turned out! Quite surprised how good the long peppers were for it, too - I'd had them in the larder for ages, but I think the first time I tried using them in a marinade, I left them whole, and so they didn't really add much. Of course, grinding them made a world of difference.

(And there's still another serving left, yay!)

Oh, and speaking of "not-bad eagle fursuits"... I keep wanting to put together a Col. Chestbridge partial. :P One of these days....

Sensibly indeed - the last thing you want when you're out on a bike is entirely silent cars!

Indeed! It's eerie when you first "hear" a purely electric car in operation - virtually silent! so amazingly easy to have them mere feet away and be completely unaware of them.

How long until arsehole drivers start adding fake badly mistuned internal combustion engine sounds? (And Harley sounds for e-bikes)

And such a cool sound TfL's settled on! I hope that aesthetic becomes the norm for cars in the future. ^_^ (I'll still be hoping for far fewer of them, though - they take up such an amazing amount of space in towns, either on the roads when moving, on pavements when not - double yellow lines be damned, apparently - and in flat parking lots or structures, both of which take essential land away from homes)

I'll have to take your word for it --- all the embeds are broken. :P

Poop! Indeed, it looks like the company responsible removed the tracks from Soundcloud, and neither The Verge nor Wired's articles have been updated with any other source.

So much intriguing stuff! (not to mention the eagle costumes!) :D

....sounds for electric cars.... another case of Why Did This Take So Long?? In a thinking person's world the danger would have been dealt with much earlier.... but at least it's being done with flair it seems, musically instead of just some boring sound... :>

.... The wheelbarrow page was AWESOME too....!

Didn't fully read the Water page (tldr) but I salute you for doing so!

*HUGS!*

I'd love to ask someone with insight into how tools like the European wheelbarrow came about! I could just be trying to rationalise such a difference, but often, when such differences appear, there will be actual reasons behind them. It could also just be a matter of plain lack of innovation, of course. Either way, surprisingly fascinating!

I really hope other agencies and manufacturers take their cue from TfL! They've come up with such a cool solution. =:D Whoever actually designed those sounds can be proud of thmselves. ^_^ (Would be funny to discover it's some big musical name like Daft Punk =:)

I'm very pleased Logic Magazine ran that - the ways in which colonialism and capitalism are bound so tightly isn't an aspect that's considered in the vast bulk of reporting, whether progressive or conservative. Seeing hard, real examples was eye-opening.
