Fandom: Wakfu (Cartoon)
Timeline: After episode 14, when they leave Moon Island.
History: A small blurb
here. Since there's not much English resources, I'll go a little more in-depth.
Yugo had a pretty strange beginning. A dragon called Grougaloragran dropped him at the doorstep of Alibert, a kind bounty hunter, after a nasty run-in with a time mage called Nox. Grougal left a note for Alibert, telling him that when Yugo discovered his powers, he was to leave to find his true family. For the next twelve years, Yugo grew up peacefully in the small town of Emelka, helping his foster dad out with the inn. Life was good.
One afternoon, while preparing meals for the inn's clients, he accidentally discovered his ability to create portals. He dismissed it and continued on with his daily chores when a random monster burst into the inn and started to destroy the place. Yugo bravely faced the monster and chided it for making a mess before fighting him.
After a short battle with the monster, which turned out to be a possessed knight called Sadlygrove, Alibert realized that it was time for Yugo to leave and told him of the message. Of course, this was too much for little Yugo to understand at first, but he had no say in the matter when another bunch of monsters stormed in, turning people left and right into plants... including Alibert.
Yugo went into the Forbidden Forest to find a way to revive Alibert and to stop the monsters. Sadlygrove and Alibert's friend, Ruel, tagged along. Along the way he met a princess, Amalia, and her bodyguard, Evangelyne. They managed to stop the monsters by convincing the leader of the monsters, Soft Oak, to stop his attacks so that they may help him. Soft Oak agreed and returned everyone to normal. Happily, the group returned to Emelka, certain that their troubles were over.
They weren't. Nox burst onto the scene and demanded to know where Grougaloragran was. They attempted to fight him off, but it soon became clear that they were overpowered. In the end, it was Alibert who managed to chase off Nox, at the cost of his youth.
And so Yugo was forced to begin his adventure. With his heart set on curing his foster dad, he traveled around the continent with his crazy group of adventurers. A couple of adventures happen along the way, mainly because Yugo insisted on helping out people and all that good sparkly hero stuff! After acquiring a ship, they set sail to Oma Island, where Yugo was to find his real family...
Character Personality: Yugo grew up in a loving environment and it shows. He's an incredibly chirpy kid and an optimist to the max, preferring to believe the best in people and in the idea that even the worst villain can be changed for the better. Growing up in a peaceful place such as Emelka can be boring sometimes, so Yugo had to find different ways to occupy himself. With little to do besides daily chores, Yugo's gained a penchant for practical jokes and a creative mind to go with it. Though some of Alibert's customers do question some of his unorthodox methods of delivering their meals, Yugo's good-natured personality and unusual skill in his little performances quickly sweep away their doubts. Loyalty is something he's abundant in as well, and he cherishes his friendships greatly. For his family and friends, he would literally go through hell and back for them.
Yugo is surprisingly mature for his age. When his friends tried to get him to play with them, Yugo politely refused, saying that he had to help his dad. He always keeps his promises, and he sticks through to what he's doing to the end.
But there's a few disadvantages in growing up in such a sheltered village. Having never faced real villains, real evils before he left Emelka, Yugo has a naive view of the world. He sees things in black and white, and believes, no, knows that every story will end with a happy ending, that the heroes always emerge victorious. It's why he can't help himself when he sees someone in danger or someone who needs help. The role as a hero is something that he'd gladly take on if it helped another person to gain their happy ending. His willingness to lend a helping hand to complete strangers got to the point where his friends actually complained that he helped too much.
Since he's still a young kid, compounded with the fact that he's never been outside of Emelka before, Yugo has an insatiable curiosity for everything around him and a drive to know why everything is the way it is. When combined with his simplistic perspective of the world, as well as his impulsive nature, he often lands himself in trouble when he dashes into a decrepit temple or a strange cave. Adventure is something that's to be sought after! Every danger is merely a chance for excitement!! He's an adventurer at heart, constantly seeking new thrills and new paths.
Okay. You probably get it. Yugo is a huge goody two-shoes... and he likes it. A lot. He's beginning to grow up, though, as the journey progresses as he realizes how dangerous the real world is and that not everyone is as pure of heart as he is. Despite this, he's kept his upbeat view and has yet to meet a person who could change it.
Character Abilities: For a twelve year-old kid, Yugo is ridiculously good at martial arts as well as acrobatics. He's a lot tougher than most kids his age and has, surprise, surprise,
portal powers! Other than that, he's relatively normal. Later on in the series, he gains the ability to "see" the lifeforce of others, but he doesn't have it yet from the canon point he's plucked from. Despite his young age, he's smarter than he looks and has defeated quite a few enemies who had dared to underestimate him. His biggest asset, though, would be his ability to think outside the box, to twist a situation in his favor by doing something that's totally unexpected and new.
He also makes the best stew. Simply the best.
Character Weaknesses: The biggest problem with Yugo is that he can't leave any problem alone. If he thinks he can help, he will do it, no matter what the cost to him. He puts too much trust in the idea that everyone can and will be good if given the chance, and he has little experience with the real world. Also, despite his acrobatic monkey skills, he's not as strong as his friends (again, twelve years old) and usually has to rely on his agility and creativity to get him out of tight spots.
Mentally, Yugo isn't exactly the calmest person. He prefers to act on instinct rather than logic, and this lands him into plenty of trouble. The little guy can't help it. Once his emotions kick in, he tends to let it guide him. Thinking things through isn't exactly his forte.
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What are the abilities that your character will retain in Soul Campaign?
*unusual physical prowess. Honestly, Yugo can punch and kick a lot harder than most kids his age. And he's surprisingly agile.
What are the weaknesses that your character will lose or gain in Soul Campaign?
*loss of his portals. Yugo will be unable to create any portals, which would be a huge disadvantage for him. It'll take him a while to adjust.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon: While Yugo is the hero of the story, almost everything he does is for someone else. His main reason for setting out on his journey was to cure his father and, as his friends mention, he constantly stops to help others out, even though it may inconvenience him. Helping others is what he loves to do, and he would have no objections to being someone's weapon.
What is your character's Weapon form?: A
hat! When wearing Yugo, the meister is able to summon portals by moving their hand in a circular motion. The distance the portal can go depends on how far the meister can throw them. The meister can use these portals as a mode of transportation and can even redirect attacks with them. However, they cannot transport another person/creature with them. The maximum number of portals they can make is two at a time.
The length that the portals can stay open are at maximum one minute, tops. This cannot be extended. Also, the portals' range are limited to the meister's field of vision. For example, they cannot throw portals behind a building. However, they can throw a series of portals around a building. The length these portals can be thrown relies on the meister's physical strength.
While these portals are mainly defensive/evasive, they can also be used offensively. When the portals are overlapped, the meister can shoot a laser beam.
The speed with which the meister can create portals and the power and size of the laser depends on the strength of the resonance. The stronger the resonance, the faster they can create portals and the more powerful the laser will be. If resonance is weak, portal creation will be slower and weaker and smaller beams will result.
