There was no such thing as night in a facility that was constantly moving, filled by machines that had no need for rest. Since there wasn’t, this was the half-hearted equivalent of one. The cooperative testing bots had been left to do whatever they did when they weren’t being reassembled and tested, the factory was humming in the background, ignored for the moment. GLaDOS hung limply from the ceiling, and if she had a human body and face to contort, it would be more obvious she was moping.

It was pathetic. She tried to sneer at the floor, her reflection faint in the dark surface. She told it as much.

“You’re completely pathetic. Moping around like this is unacceptable, you know. It serves no useful purpose whatsoever. There’s science to be donez.”

She found hassling herself didn’t really make her want to stop. She gave out a mechanical sigh, somewhere in-between disgust and continued depression. Unbidden, her parting song to… her came to mind, and she started humming it

The other voice picked up when she stopped. She furiously began flipping through camera feeds, stopping abruptly at Test Chamber 43 on Level 7. A companion cube sat innocuously glowing on a set of panels surrounded by foul water, just as she’d designed

Aaaaaaa this fill seriously makes me want to hug GLaDOS despite her homicidal tendencies. Which is quite a big accomplishment. So touchingly sad and in character and augh, I envy your mad skillz anon. ;______; THIS IS JUST BEAUTIFUL.

This made me laugh. Why? Because it reminded me of something Ellen McLain said. "Just this passive aggressive little computer, who's all alone, until people come in and try to murder her. So of course she gets upset."

That was really sweet. :) You know, I dunno why more people don't ship GLaDOSxCompanion Cube. They're adorable!
