On top of Chell’s bed was a suitcase and a lumpy looking pillow. She sighed. I missed Dad. She sat on the bed and began digging through the suitcase. I wanted to tell him I’m alright. She stopped for a minute. Once I get out of here, I’ll tell him. Clothes are in here…, she thought, digging frantically through the suitcase. But what about…? She stuck her hand in the pillowcase, hoping for the best.
“Oh thank GOD,” she sighed, squeezing the pillow to her chest. Well, at least I have that, she thought. But I can’t believe I missed him. And I didn’t really see anything that would help me in my escape. She wrinkled her nose and let out a raspberry. I don’t really feel that anything’s improved-
Something moved underneath her bed.
Chell slowly picked up her pillow and lifted her legs off the floor and onto the bed. Whatever it was started an odd chant that she couldn’t make through the bedclothes. She remembered that Wheatley said they tested robots here. If it’s some sort of creepy spy camera robot, I swear… She lifted the bedskirt

Chell waited until they were gone and headed towards the general direction of the Central Core Room. She was interested in the technology there, and the fact that Wheatley had been so eager to ignore whatever was lying there only fueled her curiosity more.
Using some debris, she left a dot every few feet. Like Hansel and Gretel in the forest, she thought. Let’s see…he made a left here, right? She had a basic idea on where she was going, but she still was nervous. She had gotten off course twice, and didn’t they say that third time’s always the charm?
Eventually she made her way to the structure that held the Central Core Room. Why’s it so huge? Chell pondered. In the daytime and with Wheatley, it had seemed innocuous, but now that she was alone and it was dark, the building reminded her of a spider ready to strike. She took a deep breath and forged on

“He threatened to kill my dad, so I did an exchange-I’d stay and help him if he let my dad go.”
The robot head laughed darkly. “So it’s kind of your fault, isn’t it? If you didn’t have needless emotional connections, you would probably be at home, living out the rest of your sorry life. Tell me, what is he having you do? My guess is that he’s trying to make the facility look haunted as to scare away wandering eyes.”
“Exactly. And my dad was worth it. Besides, it’s not like I plan on living the rest of my life in this facility. I’ll get out somehow.”
The head’s optic widened. “And how do you plan on doing that?”
“I don’t know. I’ve been having him take me around the facility and showing me it-there has to be a weak spot.”
The head groaned. “He really is predictable

Once again, glad that everyone’s enjoying this, and I do mean it. It gives me fuzzies to know that people like this. It’s also great that I get to write about fairy tales. <3 As I write, I have about eight books on ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in my room. Hooray for research! I noticed that most of them followed the Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont (now known as Mme. Beaumont in this write!anon’s note, I can’t type all that!), so I set out to find Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve’s version (now known as Mme. Villeneuve in this write!anon’s note.), since I like to borrow elements from all versions. If there’s a version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ that you think I should check out, please tell me about it!(And everywhere I go, I see ‘Beauty and the Beast’. I just saw the ‘Year of a Million Dreams’ ad for it, it showed up on a Tumblr, and the soundtrack keeps on popping up in my iTunes recommendations. So there’s that

I just learned that I'm heading off for a vacation this week, and will not be able to post Friday, so have a bonus chapter! I really liked the idea of the cube in the story, so I had to use that. And if you're looking for another fic, read this one:http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6990950/1/The_bSky_b_bAin_bt_The_bLimit_b_Mate It's long, and it's great. The writer is planning on writing a novel, and you can tell that she's ready for it.
Have fun and peace!
“Chell! Cheeeellll!”
Wheatley had been wandering the halls for the past few minutes looking for her. Today they were working on minor decorations-fake blood, moss, and he was really excited to start on the blood. He had already passed her room-she wasn’t in there-but on the second time, he saw something he hadn’t noticed before.
What looked like a grey box with hearts on it sat on her bed. What is that?, he thought. He looked both ways to see if anyone was coming his way, then

The cube sat in silence for a bit, contemplating the meeting it just had. Chell did talk about that one a lot…
“Wheatleyyyy…” called an older man. He walked quietly into the room, taking care to knock the dirt off his shoes first. “Chell? You in here? Sorry to bother you, Wheatley’s been looking for you…”
He looked around for a bit until he spotted the cube on the bed. “What’s this?” He picked it up and threw it in the air.
Hey! Heeeey! Please stop that!
Rick looked around. “Chell?”
No. Down here. In your hands.
He looked at the cube perplexedly.
Nice to meet you. What’s your name?
“…Rick…” he said tentatively.
It’s nice to meet you. I have a feeling that you’re a bit of an outdoorsman, aren’t you?
He grinned. “Yeah! I’ve only been across the darkest jungles in Africa, sailed the roughest and deepest seas, and fought my way across half the world. Did you ever hear of the time that I saved a whole crew from drowning?”
No, but it sounds interesting. Please tell me!Rick regaled the Cube with the tale, filling the story with

“Hiyoooo….is anyone here?” Sputnik crawled into the room, looking for someone. It seemed that everyone had just disappeared, and the facility was getting too quiet and dark. It was scary when it was dark and quiet.
The cube looked at the boy. He looked to be about four-ish, and kind of scared. Poor thing, it thought.
“Chell? Wheatley?” He stood up and looked in the room. “Wick? Rick?”
The room was quiet. Sputnik felt a lump form in his throat, but he wasn’t going to cry. Nope, not at all, not gonna cry not gonna cry not gonna c-
Hello.
He looked around. “Is anyone there?”
No. Just me. Why don’t you come over here? I’m on top of the bed, there’s a good boy.
Sputnik wiped his nose and hoisted himself on top of the bed, grabbing onto the cube.
Now, how did you end up here? It asked.
“I walked,” he replied. “Have you seen anyone around here?”
Hmm…I saw a man in white come in, a man with green come in, and a man in pink come in. They all went right.
“Really? Thank you!” He grabbed the cube and ran right.
