“Pathetic,” GLaDOS muttered. But She mastered Her annoyance with a great effort of will, and said only, “Regardless, when we reach this chamber, I will be reinstalled in My body. Perhaps she will be kind enough to make this worth your while in human terms. I do not care. I simply want to stop My facility from exploding. And should you fail-” Her voice rose suddenly, staving off another attempt at interruption by the man in the monitor. Chell watched the horror mount in his eyes as She continued. “-should you fail at any point to allow us to continue, there will be no relief. Should you decide to allow My facility and all of us in it to explode, you will explode with it, I assure you, but before you do, you will be subject to extremes of physical and mental agony the likes of which will make the anguish you have suffered thus far seem like a gentle caress. Do you understand?” She pressed, Her voice brutal

Fireworks, air force flyovers, thousands of people holding hands and singing as one, weepy hugs and back slaps all around.

What I'm saying is I enjoyed this story very much and thank you for writing it. Worth the long, tortuous, borderline-masochistic wait for the finish. Whew!

Should you still feel any anger toward me due to your frustration at having to wait, know that I'm pretty sure I'll get a taste of my own medicine with a couple of fills I've had my eye on around here.

Hahaha, not on your life! And fortunately, the prompt doesn’t obligate me to do it (and after something as long as this turned out, I’m so glad…I can just see that becoming hugely long as well, and I absolutely want to avoid long fills for a while). This is most definitely one of my favorite stories. It was just so well written, and everything lsfjs;ja

Thank you so much for it, and thank you for actually finishing it! You might have left us hanging multiple times (but it goes so well with the fill!), but you finished it, and for that I'm so grateful. It seems like a lot of the fills on here (ones that I enjoy, too), might go unfinished, and it's so sad.

So, thanks again! It was such an amazing read! I hope to see more fills! o v o

Thank you! I did warn you I was a slow worker!--but I never post something I don't intend to complete. A forever unfinished story is a crime against its loyal followers, in my opinion.

Well, there is one I've had my eye on...hopefully not something as long as this ever again, though! |D

Authornon, I have loved this fic ever since I was pointed to it. The wait was agonizing and totally worth it, and rightly so, with that title.

Oh my God! Is it really you?! I never dreamed you'd be watching my fill! I'm so honored someone pointed you to it, and even more, that you enjoyed it--Of course, having read this thread, you know that it was your art that inspired me to write it (and I actually found your tumblr afterwards, with all your lovely drawings; I'd have included a bit more of the tangled-in-cables concepts if I'd found it earlier in the course of the fill!) and your Wheatley that I was imagining throughout the writing of it; to know you've drawn something for it back is just incredible! It's just like I pictured and so enormously hot, especially his glasses (anon may have a glasses fetish...just a little one) and his position, hngghh....yes, I do like it at least a fraction of how much you liked reading this, I think. Many, many, very large fractions.
