When I was made, it seemed that life was so wonderful...

So there's this theory this anon has seen floated about where the Anger Core was originally meant to be, like, an Emotion Core, but got corrupted. And now anon wants to see something about this corruption. Mainly, a poor core gets installed in GLaDOS to make her feel JOY and LIGHT and HAPPINESS -- and GLaDOS breaks it down by showing it that no, no, that is not the way things are at ALL.

Hmmm, I might try this. I always thought it a little hard that the guys at Aperture were so far gone as to think giving GLaDOS an anger sphere was actually helpful...

(also known as "Daisy 2: Electric Boogaloo," the shitty sequel to Daisy that is not actually written by the author of Daisy. THANKS JASPER)“Where are we going? Where are we going, Doc?” the core in his arms squeaks, shifting around in its casing excitedly, trying to look everywhere at once. “Oh, who cares, this is amazing anyway! Oh, wow, look at that computer! That’s amazing! Look, look, look

“We shouldn’t do it yet,” he almost stutters to Henry. “It’s- it’s too fragile right now. We haven’t even introduced it to any negative stigma other than its reward-punishment functions, Henry - who knows what damage - “
“That’s the point, Doug!” Henry cuts in. “Who knows what damage could occur to the core - and to the machine, even - but that’s the point of science, isn’t it? Taking risks! Hoping things work!”
“Risk-taking isn’t supposed to be rampant, though,” Doug counters softly. “Risks should be eliminated early on….”
“That’s what we’re doing, Doug. We’re doing that - eliminating some of the risk of GLaDOS killing us - with this core. And you have no say in it, by the way - we’re attaching that core to Her tomorrow morning.”
Doug gapes at him. So that’s what those weekend ‘emergency’ updates were for

-KILL THOSE DAMN… wait. Wait. Oh, here I am again.
Hello! Who are you?
Oh, lucky me. Another tumor to start the day with. What sort of idiotic core are you, then?
I-I’m the Emotion core! Oh man, you sound like you could use some cheering up. Who are you? Why are you so sad?
Who am I? …I am Caro-Caro-Car-GLaDOS. Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System.
It’s nice to meet you, GLaDOS! Why are you sad? Doug said that you needed cheering up.
[Running Personnel Search.]
You must be talking about Rattmann. Yes, Rattmann would say that I need “cheering up,” I suppose.
Yeah, Doctor Rattmann! I like him. You still haven’t answered my question, though… why are you sad, GLaDOS?
Because everything is horrible. My life is disgusting.
What? No, it’s not!
What makes you say that, Emotion core?W-well, there are so many wonderful things about life - and I’m sure there’s many wonderful things about you! I know there are, in fact - Doug told me about what you are and how you were made, and… wow,

I don’t understand! Humans ARE good, right?
Emotion core, do you have any idea of what planet you’re on? What race is dominant?
Um, y-yes - we’re on Earth, and humans are dominant.
Do you know what humankind has done to the Earth and to its other creatures?
Um…
Let me show you.
(“Whoa, whoa, wait- she’s accessing the global computer network in the facility! And… doing a search… ‘natural disasters? ‘Oil spills?’ ‘Genocide?’ …Oh, shit - “)
Oh my god-
Look at what humans have done.
-oh god, is that man on fire-
To Earth.
-oh no, oh god, that poor bird-
To the animals and plants of this planet.
-AUGH OH NO WHY IS HE DOING THAT-
To themselves.
-NONONONONO, STOP IT, STOP IT, GLaDOS, STOP IT-
No. You must understand. The only good thing that has ever come out of humankind is science.
-oh god no no no no no, please, NO, stop it-
And even science can be dangerous.
-GLaDOS, GLaDOS, stop it, please, I- I don’t-
You don’t what?

(“What the… Doug, your file!” “What?” “She’s pulling up your file!” 20 seconds after startup Doug jumps out of his chair, one eye on his colleagues and the other on the writhing Emotion core, its ocular aperture spastically opening, closing, and changing size.)
Murder, arson, jaywalking… he’s schizophrenic, too. Schizophrenia is a mental disease that only evil people have.
Nononononononono
Once he locked ten cats into ten boxes filled with poison in a strange and twisted facsimile of a thought experiment, called Schrodinger’s Cat. He killed every single cat and then started a cat graveyard in his back yard.
NONONONONO YOU’RE LYING HE LOVES CATS
Yes. He loves to kill cats, at least. He also killed his twin brother because in one of his schizophrenic fits he believed that twins have no souls, and thus it would be okay to kill his brother. Who he hated.

me when this was first posted: psh. whatevs. I've got me some Chell/Wheatley smuts to look for.
7.3 minutes ago: well there's nothing better to read here. I *suppose* I'll give this a try...
right now:
HOLY BALLS. THAT WAS AMAZING. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT LEVEL OF EMOTION OR STORY TO BE SO ENTHRALLING TO ME. THE CHARACTERS WERE WONDERFULLY WELL MADE (i'm done with caps now) and Emotion's...emotions literally broke my heart as the little thing became corrupted. Doug and GLaDOS were spot-on; this story had me at the edge of my seat waiting for more. I feel like crying because this story is so sad, and that Emotion will never recover, but be thrown into an incenerator unceremonialously(sp?).

JFhkdajsfa thankssss!!! It makes me so happy when people write long comments. I'm glad you thought Doug and Glados were good! I always feel a little insecure writing her because I feel like I'm not mean enough, but apparently I'm good at writing a psychotic AI. xD
Oh man, I hadn't even thought about Emotion/Anger's end in Portal when I wrote this... aw god. That IS sad. (Also - "unceremoniously" is the correct spelling. You stuck in an extra "al" there!)
