The Amish have something everybody needs (and I don't just mean dressy pants in which they can do real work). They have a custom called rumspringa in which they go into the outside world without the restrictions of their religion, and find out each for himself whether he wants to place those restrictions upon him

Experience is really the biggest slayer of religious absolute truth. The world is gray, a fact that doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility of faith, but makes dogmatic belief impractical if not ludicrous.
