Estrella A&S
So, I'm finally going to use this journal for something. I've been meaning to use it as a project log and I figured I may as well get started. Crown weekend
My weekend was good, but odd. I spent the week leading up to crown with all the usual jitters along with trying to get the new bed done, or at least useable. I succeeded in getting the bed done (enough) and was really looking forward to camping. Unfortunately, it was pouring down rain when we arrived and the sun was going down. In spite of my post about Pirates, I had a great time at Highlands War. Richard, Ed and I did a bachelor trip up there and got to camp out with their Majesties, two of the coolest sovereigns I’ve ever had the pleasure of serving. That’s my topic today because I’m getting bloody well sick and tired of them.

The Apprentice’s projects
And here is what StorVarr spent his time on this weekend:
His leather bottle with walnut cork. He coated the outside with wax after I poured too much into the funnel and it dripped on the outside, which is why it’s really brown. It’s somewhere in the 5 to 6 inch long range, so it’s basically a leather flask. The second picture is his and mine.

What a weeked!
Talk about a fun and productive weekend. We had Friday off which was really nice, giving us a four day weekend. It still wasn’t long enough. So Friday I got to spend a little time on my lathe making a drop spindle, which turned out nice. It was the thinnest thing I’d turned up to then and it forced me to learn some new techniques, which was good. ( Read more... )
