The question "do you believe in science?" is a nonsense question to begin with. Whatever requires belief is likely a religion, but definitely not science.
This is another short answer, and a good one as far as short answers go. Mine is a longer answer. But one can also say that the word "belief" has many meanings. So does the word "religion" if it is understood properly.
Lots of things are a matter of belief. I believe in mathematical proofs (provided that they are correct, of course) - but I've never heard of this being called, specifically, a religion. (What would be the name of such religion?) I believe in the axiom of choice. I believe in the freedom of speech. I do not believe in copyright. I have arguments to support such beliefs of mine; but a "believer in science" has arguments to support his beliefs as well.

I've found it useful to distinguish between belief and trust.
I believe in freedom of choice and endorse freedom of speech.
