Meme! Pick a character from any fandom I'm familiar with.

(For our purposes, that's Good Omens, Homestuck, and Star Trek Reboot.)

And I'll answer the questions below. Eventually.
1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?

3) Can you relate to this character at all? ( Read more... )

1) I am hideously fond of Terezi Pyrope. She is smart and persuasive and horrifying in a way that is also, somehow, persuasive; she sculpts kissy-faces out of the lips of dead friends, not because she feels no loss but because she is making the most of the moment, and she never tiptoes around the scene of a crime when she can prance. She has the best facial expressions in a story that is bursting at its seams with glorious facial expressions. She is, to paraphrase Terry Pratchett, the kind of character who keeps up with, and very occasionally gets ahead of, the world by dancing. Even if in her case she's often dancing with a suffocating dragon plushy, or a shittily edited GIF, or conceivably Karkat, gagged and hobbled, I guess.

I don't mind people who dislike Terezi, who think she's creepy (she is) or represents a danger to their favorites (she almost certainly does). I get outrageously, unreasonably defensive, though, whenever I see someone imply that she's incompetent, or even just that she's not as keenly, steel-shame-globedly ( ... )

hahaha okay i guess i got some more of her blood up in your face after all. possibly_thrice April 1 2011, 04:56:09 UTC

But yeah. I ship them hard. And I love their ridiculous dynamic as it is in Sgrub, too, the power imbalances and the discomfort and the changeability of it, like a big loping dog and a dinky little trotting dog trying very determinedly to wrestle. I love how much Terezi loves Karkat, and how she- not pursues him, I guess, but lays traps for him. I'm not at all sure that they should stay together forever and ride matched musclebeasts off into the sunrise, but I think they should love each other some more to their respective faces, and they should always care terrible, awful amounts about each other ( ... )

Thank you so much for managing to give voice to so many thoughts I've had about Vriska and Terezi, the main pain about it being in that it was something it happened in the past -- and about them being at an impasse of not understanding each other. I think that Terezi is a little further along in her personal education of some things, but these are epiphanies Vriska has had to make on her own (along with John and Tavros being influences). But they were the Scourge Sisters, they were beautiful, they were great, and then they got left on the wayside.

I would love to read more stories about the Scourge Sisters.

Anyway this write-up was amazing and awesome and you have all my high-fives. I am personally super fond of Terezi Pyrope, and you've voiced a lot of reasons why I AM super fond of Terezi Pyrope. Love what you have to say about her and Karkat also.

but hopefully at some point they'll at least be able to step out of the armor, if not the heroic skin.

Yes. :(

Thank you for the awesome write-up!
