When I first started blogging, about nine years ago, people updated regularly. With the increasing popularity of Zuckerberg's Machine, they just don't. I realize that I have been remiss in my own postings, and rarely check my online communities outside of the Giant Blue Conglomeration ( Read more... )

I am still here.

I will NOT use facebook OR twitter... they're just a machine to extract personal information out of you and shove targetted advertising into your face.

So.
Not.
Interested.

Career change? Oooh, lemme guess... Gonzo reporter a la Spider Jerusalem?

I need to get back here. The community doesn't grow quickly like FB, but the personal touch seems to run more deeply. It's like we bare more of ourselves here, because we know that there won't be an entire world of click-friends watching.

I'm also trying to get back to LJ. I like that the posts on LJ seem more in-depth and personal, whereas even when friends-locked, stuff on Facebook just seems very exposed and up for grabs to anyone. It has a very different feel. I prefer LJ, but most of my friends have migrated to Facebook. My extended family is only on Facebook, and they berate me for not posting there, so it's hard for me to avoid using it, but I just don't have the time or energy to keep up with both LJ and FB on a regular basis. :(

I did not see the career change coming. Waiting for more info.
