First and foremost, Happy Birthday. Second, I believe that a professional is some one who is significantly better than me at something. For example: you are a professional at music, Alex is a professional at money management, Dan is a professional at having a career, Chris and Matt are professionals at DDR, and Alisha is a professional at making ice cream cones. Proving something? Of course everybody always has to prove themselves. We live off of our own reputation that other people reflect onto us. If some moron actually thought I was good at playing guitar, I would probably practice more and actually get good at playing guitar, just to prove that I was good. That's basically what it comes down to.
Try not to think so much. Nobody likes complicated things.
Also, birthdays should never be like any other day. Never.
