RP: Practical Defense

Summary: Hermione waits for her Defense practical.

Hermione was in a rather morbid mood. She wondered if it wasn't possible to get an extra point or two for prior achievements such as lying to Bellatrix Lestrange even under Cruciatus or not ending up dead dueling the witch at the Battle of Hogwarts. Hermione supposed she really couldn't take credit for that last bit considering it was Harry that offered them all protection by sacrificing himself for a time. Thank heavens, he'd not stayed dead. Hermione didn't want to lose any of her friends but losing Harry or Ron would devastate her. Just those few moments she had seen him lying there in Hagrid's arms... she shuddered and directed her mind to mentally revise instead relive that moment.
She had been pacing back and forth but finally decided to settle into a free space to wait for her turn. Wait and force herself not to think about how she had only earned an Exceeds Expectations on her Defense Against the Dark Arts O.W.L. She would do better this time, she told herself firmly.
