just thorns without the rose

HELLO WORLD. Hope you are well. I've been rather secluded lately, depriving myself of everything save for them fancy movin' pictures. One of my "resolutions" is to start blogging again regularly (which is ironically incongruent to another goal--limiting my browsing of the internet), even if the subject is only of interest to me. Apologies in ( Read more... )

Nice! It seems promising, and alternate worlds are always a plus!

Hmm, maybe I should investigate this movie? I completely blanked out on Tom Waits' appearance in Bram Stoker's Dracula. So when he showed up I was all 'Is that...nah..wait a minute...HOLY NUTS!' And then I thought about it and it seemed to be perfect sense, seeing as he plays Renfield.

I saw some random movie on TV about vampires. It was called 'The Insatiables' or something of the sort. It was pretty awful, but I remember finding it hilarious..

Let's see...the last time I saw Bram Stoker's Dracula, I wasn't even aware of Tom Waits' existence! Isn't that pitiful? We even own the DVD. I MUST RECTIFY THIS!

The Insatiables...the name rings a bell, seems like something Sci-Fi (or should I say SyFy? What?) channel would play. Every once in awhile they air some gems, but I wouldn't say that particular movie is one of them!

As far as vampire films go, I highly recommend 'Night Watch' (nochnoi dozor) and 'Let the Right One In'. They're both foreign, and AMAZING. I have yet to read the novels, even though I do own them. ffffff

Actually, it was the same for me. But I remember looking up what movies he was in after watching 'Mystery Men', and seeing that he was in Dracula. But then I totally forgot about it all...so you should not follow in my footsteps.

Yeah, I don't know who where the morons responsible for that name change, but god...they're fucking dumb.

I've totally seen 'Let the Right One In', so I know what you're talking about there. I haven't heard of/seen 'Night Watch' though, so I'll have to investigate there.

Yay! You should blog more often so that I can comment more often. I am a non-closet Trekkie (it's interesting that spell check corrects that word if you don't capitalize it), and I was unaware that they had closed the Star Trek bar in Vegas. Sad day! I enjoyed going there the couple of times that I made it, even though I don't really drink.

There is lots of other stuff to do in Vegas though! If you're going with your mom, I don't know if you're going to be in the market for any strip shows, but if you are you should check out Crazy Horse, it's a really awesome show that I think you'd enjoy. Also, it just so happens to be in the MGM Grand, which is where the Cirque du Soleil is. Two birds, one stone! There are also lions there in the lobby. Real ones, not guys in fursuits, I don't want to get your hopes up!

*L* Robert, you are terrible. That reminds me, I must respond to your latest entry! Forgive me, I just haven't the...motivation, should I say? THE IRONY

Oh definitely! I'm sure Vegas has many enjoyable venues that I am completely unaware of, like that Crazy Horse show you mentioned. (The only Crazy Horse I have witnessed is this one). Did you guys know of it beforehand, or was it a spur-of-the-moment kinda thing?

I'm not planning on going to Vegas any time soon (I think), but it's certainly helpful to gain insight from those who have already been there!

We went to Crazy Horse because we attended a timeshare sales pitch, and they had a list of free shows that they could give us tickets to. Crazy Horse seemed like the most interesting of those shows after we looked them over...so we went there for free! Even better.

If we go to Vegas again, we will definitely do the timeshare thing again if they let us. It takes about 2 hours out of the beginning of one day and you get a bunch of free stuff out of it just for listening to them and then saying no.

I watched Wristcutters a while ago and it kinda drags a bit and gets pretty weird. I think my favorite part of the whole movie is "Through the Roof 'n Underground". :)

Yeah, Wristcutters was pretty slow and not my style of "quirky", though I did like the part about the black hole.

I agree the addition of Gogol Bordello's music was ace! It would have been even better if Eugene Hutz was actually in the film. Have you seen Everything is Illuminated? MUCH MUCH BETTER MOVIE ABOUT ROADTRIPS ;_____; I totally recommend.
