Maybe it’s Ryan’s I-don’t-give-a-flying-fuck attitude that sometimes pisses Spencer off beyond all recognition. Maybe because Spencer knows that when Ryan’s by himself (read: with Spencer) he actually cares. It’s just people that he doesn’t know that he goes all distant and monotone with. Spencer knows it’s a defence mechanism, knows it’s to protect himself, but still.
(Spencer won’t admit it, but sometimes, deep down, he’s glad that, after 16-odd years of friendship, of always being there, Ryan has finally realised that Spencer’s not going. Anywhere, ever)
