So...my pairing of the moment is Harry/Tom Riddle. Does anyone have recs, especially for the type of fic that gives one ~feels~? (That's the reason I read fic, anyway-for the emotional gratification.) The tropes I don't like are as follows: Tom & Harry being from the same time period; Tom travelling to the future; Harry going back to the past ( Read more... )

The dry cleaning thing really bugs me as well! I will occasionally take a coat in to be dry cleaned, but I can't be bothered with the time and expense of taking ordinary clothes to the cleaners. I have accidentally bought some dry clean only items in the past and just put them in the washing machine... sometimes it's OK, sometimes it does ruin them =/

Depends on the material, really, Silky fabrics tend to fray in the washing machine and some stiffer materials - like those of coats and jackets - will go out of shape. Also, jumpers that are loose knit will sometimes come apart at the seams when they get tossed around in the machine.

I never buy dry clean only either, I just don't see the point of getting something that you would always be worrying about getting dirty because cleaning it would be so awkward and expensive.

I SO want to see (or at least hear about) your brand new clothes!

I've never had any of my clothes dry cleaned (unless, maybe my mom had it done without my knowledge). Pretty sure there are lots of "dry clean only" clothes that I've either washed by hand or just threw into the washing machine anyway. x_x;

haha, will do then!

And hey, as long as it didn't ruin them! :P

Hooray for new clothes!! :D I totally agree with you about the dry cleaning thing though, when I was visiting my parents last week I found a jacket I used to LOVE and it's dry-clean only... because I love it so much and want to wear it again I'm going to bite the bullet and get it dry-cleaned haha but I certainly wouldn't do it for many things! It's a pain, as someone else said you're practically afraid to wear dry-clean only items because if they get dirty it's a real hassle and expensive to clean them, and trying to just use the washing machine could potentially ruin them :(

Yeah, definitely! Will you be posting a photo of the jacket? (Or have you done so already, and I've just missed it?)
