Had a lovely holiday last week and will try to post photos & catch up on everyone's posts in a timely manner, but knowing me...that won't happen. -___
( Read more... )
1. I kind of feel the same about alcohol and can only assume that other people get a totally different experience from it. Alcohol always tastes of alcohol to me (people who say vodka doesn't have a taste... lol, yes it does, it has a really strong taste!) and I dislike most of it. I also don't get a very strong effect from it - it doesn't make me lose my inhibitions or forget my troubles. But other people obviously do get that effect from it. I think it's genetic, whether you do or not. Though in recent years I have found that certain drinks, especially red wine, can have a pleasant, relaxing effect for me. It's nothing spectacular, but I don't mind getting a little tipsy with friends once in a while, these days
( ... )
1. I've only ever got fuzzy from alcohol, and I much prefer to be clear-headed, so alcohol doesn't hold any appeal to me even despite the lack of taste! (And I think I might be allergic to red wine...the last time (and maybe first time, I have no idea) I had some I ended up having gas for several hours that night :\
2. I suppose my confusion comes from girls who seem to want horses without ever having ridden one before? But your explanation makes a lot of sense, and maybe that's what they imagine!
1. The only appeal I see of alcohol is that it relaxes you enough to be able to socialize more. I only like sweet, fruity wines (like mead, plum wine and cherry wine) but had to give up drinking some years ago due health reasons.
2. Ponies and horses are not my thing. I'm sure they are wonderful animals and the people who like them are really into them, but dang, it's expensive to keep them.
3. I'm more of a "life on Earth" person, but my husband, who joined the Air Force because he wanted to become an astronaut (he didn't make the cut and went into radars instead), is still enthralled with space. I do think space puts life here in perspective--we're all very small from space.
4. Sliced bread is all about time-saving and consistency. The machine for it was invented about an hour from here, in a small town called Chillicothe (CHI-lee-koth-ay), Missouri. You can read all about it here on the town's webpage.
1. I've had sweet wines before, but I'm not sure I can distinguish different types, only that they are sweeter than otehr types of alcohol. The taste of the alcohol is what stands out to me pretty much whatever I drink! With that said, I love stuff like wine coolers because I can't taste the alcohol in them, haha, but in that case I'd rather buy something non-alcoholic that tastes the same since that would be cheaper!
1) I too like the taste of alcohol with something sweet: I'm fond of hard cider, champagne, moscato, and occasionally merlot, but other than that, I won't be drinking anything. As for getting through a hard day with alcohol, it's hard to say. Some people use it as a coping mechanism - relying on the numbness that drinking a lot can bring.
2) Because they're tiny and cute?
3) My guess is that space is something that is truly bigger than Earth, bigger than one's self; that's something a lot of people want to see for themselves.
4) Not sure. I guess a lot of people had to slice their own bread before sliced bread became a thing.
1. I totally love stuff like Barcadi Breezers, haha! But only because I can't taste the alcohol in them, but then for that very reason I never buy them because I could just buy something that tastes the same but costs cheaper in the first place because it's non-alcoholic. :P
1) I don;t drink a lot, only on special occasions, so I wouldn't really subscribe to drinking one's troubles away...
2) I think that space is just so fascinating, that there is something bigger than all of us, something that is so vast and far from the blue marble called Earth.
To me space is a colossal waste of money that could be better spent making things better for people here on earth XD We're just looking for another planet to move to when we've ruined this one beyond repair ;( Makes me mad tbh!
Also yeah, what's the big deal with ponies? XD Horses and horse-like creatures are big and unpredictable. Give me a cat or a rodent any day! ;)
