candy and ghosts day

For the first time evar, I'm playing the role of the grown-up householder this holiday, and giving away candy. I think I'm trying to buy karma, as well as trying on one of the more trivial and easy adult responsibilities. Wait, kids these days don't like the mary janes? Damn, they were always among my favorite cheap candies and I would have taken them over snickers any day. :)

I actually am getting a taste for them myself, although the peanut butter is a bit nast. I actually knew them under an earlier guise simply as "halloween candy" -- chewy tan lumps in cheaply printed three-color wax paper. These didn't have the peanut butter, and I inhaled them by the handful.

...I remember one year when I was protesting the commercialization of all the fall holidays - I was decorating by using a bunch of cardboard boxes - Started in halloween with boxes carved like pumpkins with light strings in them, moved on to a christmas tree made out of a pile of empty unadorned boxes with lights strung around it...

I seem to remember you wanting to do some sort of eco-hackery at some point - While researching a house buy, I stumbled across Build It Solar, which has a lot of nice projects, particularly the thermosiphons. I realize the pacific northwest is actually one of the worst places to set up solar equipment, but it might be amusing to look at, at any rate.
