Share of income by top 1% increased from 8% to 17% since the 1970's. That's from the CBO, which also shows that people making average incomes only barely benefited. "This isn't because the top 1% have started working harder, this is because they have been able to change the rules and cut taxes on things like dividends and capital gains." If they're a conservative with half a brain in their head, they'll realize that this is not a good thing. a conservative might not care about the justice considerations but should worry that increasing income inequity is a harbinger for low economic growth.
