I don't know what it is, but I can offer some help. (I watch TechTV.)

A good site is SpywareInfo. They have lots of information.

Also, two good (free) programs are AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I'm sure you can find those all over the net.

My computer did that. It had other issues, so our solution was to do a complete nuke & pave, which, unless you're willing to take that route, isn't particularly helpful for your situation, though. :-( Have you tried Ad Aware? That might be able to track it down.

Yes, actually I did get adaware the say after posting this, and it seems to have taken care of the problem...

Cool. Glad to hear it. That thing was really annoying. It didn't appear to hurt anything, it was just annoying.
