I finally got around to hearing the Of Montreal record last night (although I've had it for at least a couple months). It seems to me they're doing a knock-off version of something a lot of other bands are doing better, but I probably couldn't name one if pressed to do so.

Okay, think hard on that because I'd realllllly like to hear other things that are remotely like it, because I can think of very few people making anything nearly as:

a) tuneful, catchy, harmonic
b) lyrically brilliant
c) musically colorful
d) gleefully odd
e) emotionally involving

Wow, you already have a list started. I was just thinking that 2007 might be the year I get back in step with the music world after a three year hiatus.

I have to admit I'm kind of surprised Challengers slid into The Very Best category on your list after just a week. I'm still trying with it, but I only like about 40-50% of it at the absolute most.

Well, it's kinda relative to other things. Compared to the previous NP albums it's a huge drop off, but compared to other records, it's still one of the better albums from this year.

We share an interest in werewolf bar mitzvahs as well as the work of Ryan North. I have taken the liberty of adding you to my friends list.
