The Amazing Spider-Man #43, as reprinted in Essential Spider-Man Volume 2.

I adore these Essential books. I wish I had lots of spending money, because I'd really like to get the rest of the Spider-Man and Fantastic Four volumes, and maybe a volume or two of The Avengers and the 60s X-Men comics.

I really like them, too. Fantastic Four Volume 1 is hilarious so far... Fraely's right, they're *always* bickering. And Mr. Fantastic is a bit of an ass! When they're all choosing their names, the other three pick names that describe their new powers & Reed's all like, I'm super-stretchy... so I guess I'll call myself MR. FANTASTIC! Like that makes sense at all!

60s Fantastic Four are the BEST! They are so consistently wacky and weird and imaginative and psychedelic. I love love love whenever Jack Kirby would do those collage pages. I can't understand why people haven't been mixing collage into comics all of these years.

There's one full page illustration from Fantastic Four #51 in Volume 3 which could very well be one of the greatest pages of any comic book ever.

It's Reed floating in a space suit, and all around him are these cut-outs of spirals, circles, caves, landscapes, and planets - the composition is beautiful, just as great as anything the Dadaists ever did with collage - and Reed says "I've DONE it!! I'm drifting into a world of limitless dimensions!! It's the CROSSROADS OF INFINITY -- the junction to EVERYWHERE!" It is seriously one of the most moving and beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen.
