Summary: Hokay so, FINALLY posting this. ^^;; It's cute. Sana gets to meet Yuushi's son and the analyst himself at the gym. Koji's learning kickboxing, Sana and Yuushi have a little spar...Koji makes it cute. ^^
Sanada walked into the gym, body already sweated out from jogging there. He huffed as he raced up the steps to the locker room, and threw his bag of street clothes into his locker.
Then he turned, stretching out his arms as he entered the small weight room and martial-arts floor. What should he do today? Sanada pondered the question as he sat down on the mat for some stretches.
Koji was running to the water fountain behind Sanada when he tripped over the edge of the mat, practically falling into the man's lap. "Whoa..."
He groaned a little, since he had landed on the man's knees, as he lifted himself up. "Ow...I'm sorry." He smiled at the man as he quickly stood to his feet.
Sanada blinked.
It was a kid. A cute one. He didn't recognize the face from anyone at work, unless... "...Oshitari?" He asked cautiously. Boy, it would be embarrassing if he was wrong.
Eyes going wide, Koji blinked. "Yeah. Oshitari Koji. How do you know my last name?" He'd never met this guy before. Was he a regular here and knew his dad somehow or perhaps worked at the Agency. Koji hadn't met everyone from there. He only knew Oishi and Sengoku. He'd met some of the other people that worked with his father but he didn't really remember their names.
Sanada gave Koji a considering look. "It's my field agent training," he said, trying to gentle his gruff voice. "I noticed that you look like Oshitari Yuushi. Didn't know he had a kid..."
There was a lot about his coworkers that he didn't know. "You go to the gym often?" It surprised him a little.
"Oh. So you work at the Agency with dad. That's cool." Thought for a moment you were some kind of creepy stalker guy or something. That was freaky.
"Yeah. He can tell you more about me." He smiled before remembering what he was doing again. "Oh, I gotta get back but yeah. Dad and I come here a lot. He's teaching my kick boxing. Come watch if you want."
Just as Koji was about to head back Yuushi called after him. "Koji. Come on."
The boy turned and hollered back to his father. "Coming. I gotta go now. See you later...uhm... I'm sorry what's your name?"
Sanada smiled. Koji was a good kid. "Sanada. Genichirou." He strolled after Koji, curious to see what kind of martial arts they were doing. It would be cute to see such a little guy being violent -- would remind him of his younger self.
Koji smiled at the man and bowed. "Yoroshiku!" He smiled before turning and running back to his father.
Yuushi smiled at his son softly. "I was beginning to wonder there. What took you so long huh?"
"I met someone you work with over there." He pointed toward the mat in front of the water fountain before noticing the man had followed him. "Him. I met him. Sanada-san."
Turning his head, he smirked. "Well Koji, seems you've met him before I have." He chuckled as he met Sanada, extending a hand. "Pleasure to meet you Sanada. Oshitari Yuushi, Chief Analyst of Languages, Analysis Department."
Sanada grunted out a greeting in return, gripping the other man's hand. European gesture, interesting. "Field agent," he said briefly. "Your son? He's a good kid."
Oshitari did indeed look like his son. "I hear you're giving him kickboxing lessons."
Yuushi was always pretty informal with most of his coworkers. It was those in positions ahead of him that he gave formalities, plus they were off duty so formalities were unnecessary. "Yes. Thank you and yes. He wanted to learn after watching a sparring match once. I'm teaching him Thai kick boxing to be exact."
Sanada ran his eyes down the other man, assessing him. Oshitari was built more slenderly than Sanada, but seemed to be fit. They'd probably be evenly matched in a spar.
"I don't know that one. May I watch the lesson?"
"If you wish. Koji and I certainly won't mind." He then turned back to his son, beginning the next part of the lesson, having Koji work on combinations with the punching pads Yuushi had slipped onto his hands. They were on the outside of the ring with one of the gym's trainers there to help Koji if Yuushi was needed with one of the new kids again. So far the kid that was up in the sparring ring was fairing well. Yuushi figured he'd be put in the ring with him in a few minutes.
"Ok Koji. Just like I showed you. Let's do it again hm?" He smiled as he knelt and held up the pads for Koji. "Ready?" Koji took his stance, perfect width this time and began bouncing before nodding. "Alright. Attack!" With that, the little 9 year old boy began working on his combinations. "Good. Good. A little high Koji. There you go. You're swinging too wide son, leaving too much space for a counter attack. Keep your other hand closer to block. That's it. Good job. And rest a minute." Yuushi smiled proudly at his boy. "You've improved a lot since last week. That's good. You're still swinging too wide with that crossover. Also that side kick needs to be a little higher. Aim for the chest and abdomen ok?" Koji nodded. "Right."
Sanada watched, feeling a small surge of...some emotion, at the interaction between Koji and his father. What was it?
A little bit of longing. He'd thought about kids before -- of course he had. To carry on the Sanada family line. But he wondered for a moment how life would go now... He was in love with a man, and that made having children rather difficult.
But Koji was hurting his heart with cuteness.
By the end of the practice session, Sanada had a lopsided grin on his face.
"You're doing well, kid."
Koji smiled brightly up at the other man. "Thanks~ Do you kickbox Sanada-san?"
Yuushi too was looking at Sanada curiously. This is the first time they've met and Yuushi knew nothing about this man. Just when Sanada was about to answer, Yuushi was called into the ring. "My turn eh?" He smirked slyly as he removed the pads and glasses, his hands and feet already taped. "Be right there." He then turned to the trainer that was there with them, removing his sweat shirt to reveal his magnificently toned body, pulled his hair back requested the trainer keep an eye his son for him. "Koji. Finish your cool down with Nishida-san here ok?"
The boy smiled brightly and nodded. "Yes daddy." Yuushi ruffled his son's hair with a wink. "I'll be back." He spared Sanada a glance and a nod before climbing into the ring. He warmed up a little before taking his stance and bouncing as he awaited his opponent's first attack.
Sanada was going to answer that no, he hadn't studied kickboxing, but that he'd studied other martial arts in the navy -- when Koji ran off. Oh well, hopefully he'd get to see the kid again.
And then Oshitari took the ring. Interesting. Sanada crossed his arms and watched the match for a while, expression deeply thoughtful. Kickboxing was a violent sport -- it looked like no holds were barred, and as though your shins had to be made of steel.
Oshitari was quite a sight furiously punching the other trainer, as well. Sweat flew from his unclad torso, and his muscles rippled with each block. Sanada felt a moment of nostalgia, remembering what kind of eye candy it was to learn martial arts in the navy. Ah -- this was quite a nice flashback.
And then Sanada remembered the child, and pondered that Oshitari was undoubtedly married. Ah well, it wasn't like Sanada was single... Or was he? Sanada sighed just a bit, wondering where he stood with Yukimura.
And was gripped with the sudden urge to beat SOMETHING.
"Would you like to spar with me?" Sanada asked Oshitari when his match was over. "I don't know kickboxing, but we could do anything-goes."
The match went well. Yuushi had won of course, the kid had a lot left to learn after all. Once he'd finished sparring with the younger man, he turned curiously to the agent. "Well, that all depends on what you have studied. I've only studied Thai Kickboxing and I'm not exactly sure what I would be able to go up against with only that."
Sanada nodded. "My style is sort of anything-goes hand to hand. They taught it to me in the Navy."
He eyed Oshitari. The other man looked tough. "I bet we could simply box. Not much to that."
Except for punching. And the adrenaline rush of getting your blood up.
"Hmm... if you wish to spar than I suppose I have no objections." Yuushi shrugged before flashing his usual smirk. "You may want to get taped up there first. We don't use padding in these sparring sessions."
Sanada nodded. And, to make sure that he was on a par field with Oshitari, took his shirt off too. He was already sweating from his earlier workout, his muscles standing out a bit from the strain he'd put them under.
He got his hands taped, and stepped into the ring, sizing up his opponent.
Then he smiled at Oshitari, a feral grin, glint deep in his eye.
Sanada had sexual tension to spare, and all of that could be world out in battle. He was SO ready for it.
The fight went very well. They were both quite good and pretty evenly matched but if it hadn't been for a stroke of luck for Yuushi the fight wouldn't have ended until one or both of them collapsed from exhaustion. Sanada had made a slight error that only a grade A analyst like Yuushi would have been able to see. With that tiny, almost unnoticed mistake, Yuushi took his small window of opportunity and put Sanada down for the count.
Once the fight was over, Yuushi helped the other man out of the ring carefully as the two of them sat on a nearby bench. He made sure Sanada wasn't beaten too badly and that he hadn't given the field agent any serious problems to have to worry about later. Panting softly, picking up the bottle of water he had next to him, Yuushi quickly took a drink before handing it to Sanada. "Here." He panted out. "Nice fight."
Sanada brushed off the other man's aid irritably. "I've been in the navy, no need to baby a small bruise," he grunted. He took the bottle and took a swig, wiping the droplets from his mouth.
He smiled at Oshitari. "It feels good to go all out. Been a while." Since he left the navy and his old sparring partner. His heart ached for a moment for Sugihara, hoped that he was in a better place.
Then Sanada spotted Koji returning. "Hey, kid. Your father's pretty good at fighting, just like you."
Yuushi noticed the slight change in mood before he turned his attention to his son and smiled as the little boy came running up all excited.
Koji couldn't be prouder of his father. He ran to Yuushi full speed and lept into his arms. He hugged his father first before turning to Sanada. "My dad's the greatest fighter here." He smiled brightly, proudly before leaning over and hugging the other man. "You were good too." He smiled up at the field agent brightly.
Sanada laughed. Koji was cute, admiring his dad so much. He tousled Koji's hair and stretched a little, working out the kinks in his muscles.
"So what other martial arts do you know, Koji?"
"I only know kick boxing. I never learned any martial arts until I came to live with dad." Koji smiled a little nervously at the man. "I'd like to learn something else too but I think I better learn a little more about kick boxing first, plus I don't know what else I'd like to study yet. Also I don't really have the time to study another martial art at the moment. I'm still working on learning French."
Yuushi smiled brightly. "He speaks and writes perfect English, Japanese and Latin. French shouldn't take too much longer for him, especially the way my mother's been tutoring him. My mother use to be in charge of languages at the agency a long time ago. That's how I got into what I do."
Sanada grunted. That sounded like an overwhelming schedule for the child.
"Don't forget to play," Sanada said with a serious expression, but then smiled ever so slightly.
He smiled at Oshitari as well. "You too, Oshitari-san. Don't forget to play."
Sanada finished stretching and nodded. "Thank you for the spar. Next time I won't go easy on you," he said to Oshitari, a competitive spark in his eye.
"And you. I hope I see you again soon." Sanada patted Koji's head.
Koji smiled brightly. "Dad and I play a lot actually. We went to the park yesterday and played tag. It was fun." He chuckled a little before hugging his father's neck.
Chuckling and nodding to the other man, Yuushi hugged his son back. "Always Sanada. Always." He smirked at the other man before giving him a handshake. "Anytime. I look forward to it."
The boy let go of his father a moment to give Sanada a quick hug. "I hope to see you again soon too Sanada-san."
Sanada laughed, hugging the affectionate child gently. "I work with your father, so I suspect you will."
He waved at Oshitari and headed off. He was due at the range in half an hour.
