Okay, I didn't get time to update again because I ended up rushing Avocado to the emergency vet clinic (because my vet is on vacation) on the advice of the VBers. And good thing I did, apparently, because it turned out he was missing a big chunk of his skin and if I had taken him like, tomorrow, they might have had to cut off part of his tail! aww, poor kitty. something similar happened to my gramma's kitty and now she has a 2-inch stub for a tail. I'm glad you got him checked though, a kitty needs its tail for balance. :) aww avocado.

Jewel, my cat who lives with my mom now, has no tail but she was born like that so she's completely used to it (as are we). It would be different for Avocado to lose his tail, although I'm sure he would adapt. But he has such a beautiful tail, especially how it goes from light, to stripes, to completely black at the end. I love the transition, and if you cut off the end transition... it just ruins it! Anyway, it shouldn't come to that, so let's just keep hoping!

I took it off him so he could eat, and now he's vigorously cleaning himself because he hasn't been able to do that since yesterday morning (and he was a mess at the vets, all bloodied and stuff). But it has to go back on, unfortunately.

aww glad to hear your cat's OK. cats in e-collars = sad but hilarious. beckett walked into walls all the time, and i always knew where she was under the couch because it made so much noise when she'd move around. however, they get really disgusting really quickly, so just an fyi...

I know, all last night I could hear him scraping the collar against the rug. Haha. And he hasn't quite figured out that he has no peripheral vision, or he keeps forgetting, and he keeps doing this weird flippy thing with his head when he wants to see something to the side. But all in all, he's being really good about it. And his appetite hasn't diminished at all! They said cats have trouble eating with them on, so take it off for meals... but no, he's still bound and determined to steal everyone else's food! Haha.
