We allow: drawings, paintings, manips, vids and fanmixes.
*niggler mode on* This can be interpreted as excluding of purely digital works, as vector graphic (Corel images and such), or tablet paintings, or 3D modeling. And, for example, this isn't any of techniques I've named and doesn't even lie near to any named in the FAQ. Wouldn't be allowed? ;) Not to mention sculptures, cosplay and so...
If I may suggest, I'd write maybe something as: 'We allow: any techniques traditional and digital, including but not limiting to drawing, painting and manips. Also vids and fanmixes.'
So, you say no spoilers for On Stranger Tides, but, could one potentially write a story assuming that he did find the fountain of youth thus allowing a setting/time frame in the story to exist that would otherwise be impossible even though it would not actually go into OST at all?
I second this question because I'm relatively spoiler free for OST, but I am thinking about using a similar idea for my fic. Finding the Fountain of Youth (maybe Jack, maybe Elizabeth who knows!) and the consequences of drinking from the fountain. In my opinion, I wouldn't consider that spoilerish, but I'd like to hear a mod's opinion, too.
Because AWE ended with Jack and Barbossa deciding they were going to try to find the Fountain of Youth, I do not consider a story about the search for it, or a story about the aftermath of finding it, or even a story set a few centuries later assuming that the character(s) had found it to be spoilers.
So basically, for the most part, the Fountain of Youth is fine.
What isn't fine is, for example, you had read or seen somewhere that Jack finds the FoY and becomes immortal, but the price of said immortality was that he went completely bald -- you couldn't reference this in your story. Or you knew from casting rumours about a new character that hasn't been in the other three movies and talk about his/her role in finding the FoY.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further clarification.
Are stories to be strictly movie-verse, or can we include elements introduced in tie-in media, such as the Disney Advetures comic series, the MMO game, etc., as long as we do not include spoilers for On Stranger Tides?
Elements from the tie-in media are fine with the following caveats:
1) Consider an explanatory author's note if the element is a big part of your story, just to help the readers who aren't aware of the extended canon. 2) If the tie-in media was released within the last six months, please put a spoiler warning on it. 3) If the tie-in media hasn't been released yet (or won't have been released by May 16), you are not allowed to include it.
