Introduction
Name: Katie
Age: 19 (20 in a few scant weeks)
Location: This chair right here. It's located in an old dormitory in a small college in a small Nebraska town. Which is somewhere on Earth.
Nicknames, or what you prefer to be called: Katie's fine. Online I also answer to Commander/CommanderD/Commander30/Commie and the like. I have a few aunts who call me Kate, and a friend who calls me Wembley, but the general public doesn't have those priveledges.
About You
Three positive adjectives about yourself: Patient, honest to a fault, usually dependable
Three negative adjectives about yourself: Withdrawn, indecisive, insecure
A few of your likes: I cannot limit myself to "a few", but here we go: cartoons, American history (especially the presidents), reading, writing, drawing, musicals, Muppets, the Marx brothers, British humour, bad puns, being alone, my adorable nieces, etc, etc, etc.
A few of your dislikes: Arguments, politics, myself, ladders, talking on the phone, anime, seafood, ignorance, and the human race about sums it up. I'm normally pretty easy-going and my interests are quite varied. :D
A few of your pet peeves: Bad grammar is about the only one I can think of.
A few of your talents and hobbies (please differentiate between the two): Talents... I can sorta draw cartoons, and I can play piano and flute okay, but the only talent I really think I have is my writing ability. My hobbies include most of the same; writing, drawing, and playing music. I also like to watch my DVDs, scrapbook, and collect postcards.
Where do you see yourself in ten years (include things like the job you’d like to have, where you’d like to live, if you are married or not, etc): No idea. Hopefully not married--I much prefer being alone. I'm kinda hoping I'll work in a library or museum somewhere. Have some dogs and cats--I'll be the crazy old cat lady, I'm sure. Working on my novel, perhaps? Sometime in my life I want to get a novel published (and hopefully have it be a best-seller!)
Your motto on life, or how you like to live it: "Life is like a bathtub. It feels good while you're in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get." Garfield said that, actually. The cat, not the president. ;p
Your three favorite books and why they’re your favorites:
All of Uncle John's Bathroom Readers--hey, they're full of amusing tidbits, random info, and some pretty hilarious stories.
The Scarlet Pimpernel--I don't consider myself to be a hopeless romantic at all, and I know that some of the things in that book are pretty overly dramatic, but I can't help myself, Sir Percy is just cool.
The Complete Book of US Presidents--because there's info in there that even I don't know. ;)
Your three favorite movies and why they’re your favorites:
Mary Poppins--To me this movie has everything. Wonderful music, funny bits, and a really touching story about a parent needing to reconnect with his kids. It'd take one hell of a movie to knock Mary Poppins out of first place.
Forrest Gump--Simple yet powerfully emotional. The theme song is gorgeous too.
Pirates of the Caribbean 1&2--well, I'll talk about those later. ;)
Where do you feel most at home? My house. Which is only about 75 minutes away from where I go to college, which is nice.
Pirates Related
Why do you like Pirates of the Caribbean?: I hate to name this first, but the music is definitely a biggie. If you hadn't noticed above, almost all the movies I like have amazing music. (I also love Somewhere in Time, most animated Disney films, and most Muppet movies partly for that same reason.) But it DOES take more than that to get a movie up on my "I really REALLY REALLY like this movie" list, and POTC has some very funny and witty dialogue, a story that grips me (especially the second movie), and an extremely hot pirate. Uh, I mean... that shouldn't factor in to my reasons, but what can I say... ^^;
Who’s your favorite character and why? (This does not mean who you feel you’re most like): Captain Jack Sparrow, definitely. I have a poster of him in my dorm room and a talking 18 tall figure of him (currently in my closet, as he just fell off my desk and his leg broke off, sniff... anybody got some superglue?). I know how cliché it is for me to like him, but I do. I do take pride, actually, in the fact that I found him hot before anyone TOLD me he's hot. (I'm nearly asexual and can't think of any other time this has happened, so I think that's quite an accomplishment!) Jack's got all the best lines, and I'm a sucker for a guy with a wit. Even if he's drunk half all the time.
Who do you feel you are least like in Pirates and why? Jack the Monkey. 'Cuz I'm not a monkey. Put THAT in your hookah pipe and smoke it. :)
Miscellaneous Ramblings
Where did you hear about this community?: I was just kinda looking at miscellaneous people who got stamped--I recently joined an Animaniacs community and both getting stamped and stamping others is very fun, I've decided. So I want MORE, I tell you!
Post at least 3 clear photos of yourself (if you have no pictures, just describe what you look like): Ugh, lemme find some... don't say I didn't warn you...
My hair is, in fact, always that messy.
DAMMIT, AN APPLE JUST FELL ON MY HEAD--wait, gravity?! Me under the offspring of the tree that clonked Newton. At least, I think that's what this was all about.
"I'm not as think as you drunk I am." Actually, I think bear is pretty nasty anyway, but whatever. All of these pics were taken about a year ago on my trip to England, and they're the ones I uploaded 'cuz they're the only ones I have on my computer.
Sorry if this is ridiculously long, by the way.
