this enthusiasm could be an asset in a travel companion

Oh yes, it certainly would *g* I think this might be my favorite of your series. I love Jack's vulnerability here, and that it was Norrington he chose to bring back...um, forward. I miss him.

“’Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.’”

A perfect reference, and hopefully Jack is right. Great fic, and a wonderful response to the prompt ♥

I figured it was about time I gave Jack some company, so when I saw that prompt I grabbed it.

Glad you liked!

Hey, I had a good time reading that one - something happy and promises of carefree (maybe) and some future adventures as well!

Hopfully! Though I'm certain the relationship, like any lasting one, shall have it's ups and downs. And they'll probably never forsake the snark habit (lucky for us.)

Thanx for R&R.

I really enjoyed this! I liked how the realities of such a situation were present(ed), and how James remained in-character despite what us little fangirls (or at least me...) would like to see. It was subtle and ambiguous, which even a sparrington-lover such as myself could appreciate. In a situation such as James finds himself, baby steps really are the course for the voyage. *giggles* I absolutely adored James' reactions to the 21st century, from his unease with swimming trunks to even his pragmatic compartmentalisation of the technology around him. That really does seem very in-character of him.

I'm glad you found my James in-character; he's not the easiest bloke to do.

Aye. But I'm as confident as Jack, that James will eventually adjust to his new era. And once he does- ah, such possibilities shall be open to him!

'Twill be so nice, to not have to feel sorry for Norrington any more.

"ah, such possibilities shall be open to him!"

Oh yes, definitely! Another thing I liked about this was how it prodded my brain in contemplating what his future might hold. I'm still trying to figure out what James could, ultimately, do with himself.

Gawd, yes. XP I was reading some older fic over the weekend - nothing new to me, but I was feeling nostalgic - and even with stuff I had liked in the past, I found myself... restless. I really wanted to see Norrington portrayed more positively. And this wasn't anti-Norrington stuff either! 8P Thank you!

Once he gets used to the new sailing technologies, he could rise to a prominent position in the Coast Guard. I can easily picture him captaining the Eagle:

The lonely pirate hadn’t truly wronged him- he’d preserved his life, and extended an offer of friendship.

I can believe that Jack would throw himself into finding the Fountain but not really think about the implications until far too late. Still, he couldn't have picked a better companion (and bless Norrington's nervous forays into the 21st century - once he gets the hang of it I'll wager there'll be no stopping him).

A clever idea, nicely done!

Jack doesn't actually regret his immortality. But he has discovered one real disadvantage, so when he got a chance to remedy the problem, he grabbed it with both hands.

None that I can think of. Gibbs was a good friend, but that bloke would probably be a perpetual 'fish out of water' (as the next chapter mentions.)

That is, indeed, how I see this story going.

Thanx for the R&R. :)
