Is it just me, or is the use of "arse" in narrative like this really out-of-place?

It just makes me laugh.

You're right, this fic isn't terrible, but oh goodness, the gratuitous "quick let's throw the Sue and the object of lust together and never mind believable actions and motives"... well that makes me laugh too.

I consider myself a writer, and I have been making stories for my entire life. I take it seriously. Am I published? Not yet. Not really. I've never been paid, at any rate. But I am a writer, down to my very atoms. Yet, I can't tell where this magic line between "quality" and "junk" is
