Your favorite tempeh recipes. Aaaaand GO!

But seriously, folks. I bought tempeh on a whim the other day, but I have no idea what to do with it. I read that you can make a good mock chopped liver with it, but I have no idea how. If you know that, or if you have any preferred ways of preparing tempeh, I'd appreciate it.

check out the recipes in www.tempeh.ca -- the appetizers section has a mushroom tempeh pate that is very good...!

Mostly the trick is to marinate it (I use tamari, cider vinegar, little crushed garlic, sometimes mirin or honey or fresh grated ginger; I usually cube it so marinade can soak in). Then anywhere from a few hours to a couple days later, bread it something (bread crumbs, nutritional yeast, crushed cornflakes). Then bake at 350 or so. Then serve: with a stir fry of vegetables, in a sweet sour sauce, with a mushroom sauce over pasta, instead of beef in stroganov... I got many of my favorite ideas & best recipes from the book Passionate Vegetarian

My favorite is a tempeh hummus panini. Just buy some hummus from the store (or make your own) then mix it with tempeh in a food processor and put it on bread with your favorite veggies (I usually use tomatoes, green olives, lettuce, and red onion) and put it in a sandwich maker or indoor grill.
