Weird. I've never seen this concept in any fic, ever. The idea actually sounds interesting!

But you'd think if Dumbles was making/paying people to be friends with Harry, that he'd pick someone more stable than Ron. ;)

I never heard of this particular plot either, but then certain ships have certain cliches.
One small thing I want to add is that Draco wanted to be Harry's friend before he knew who Harry actually is. Remember the scene when Harry goes clothes shopping at Madame Maulkins?

I am not trying to knock Draco 'as a friend' story line. Just as it relates to Hermione and Ron being brought off.

This one seems to be popular with the fanbrats over at ff.net. A variation on it that was popular was that all his friends turned against him because they blamed him for Cedric's death/Sirius's death. I haven't seen it in the better fic out there but yeah it's annoying at times. The only one I saw that did it WELL was Faith by Dragongirl16 over on ff.net. She actually made it work. Have a link.

Yah! someone else has seen this. I wasn't imagining it all. Your right about ff.n. I was looking over there, I know not smart, but there are readable stories and the first thing I click on it's third line was. "Hermione and Ron were paid to be Harry's friends."

Your right about the better fic, though. I haven't seen it in anything outside ff.n or aff.n.

She did it well in the beginning, but it did eventually get annoying.

It just got too damned long, and in the end w/exception of Moldyshorts getting offed there were way too many loose ends.
