Funny enough, I haven't seen this mistake in the fics I've read, but I can imagine it would frustrate me. :)

I don't remember what Barty Crouch Jr gave Harry, but the Pepperup Potion is indeed for colds. To quote the lexicon:

Perhaps what Crouch gave Harry was really the aforementioned Invigoration Draught, as we don't know yet what it tastes like.

I've seen it, and yes, it annoys me.

I think they're confusing it with *Dr. Pepper*.
