Now that the 22nd is over in every timezone, signups are officially closed and I've managed pairing up all of you as well as possible.
Everybody who wanted to "stay in the same country/continent" (all from the USA) have been assigned a partner in the USA; with the others, I managed to give every US-American a counterpart in Europe, Asia, Canada or South America, except for a few exceptions (there were too many US people, sorry!).
Also, I quickly found out that it is much easier to have simple pairs (that means you write to the same person that you'll receive a card from); six people who wished to have different partners were assigned "in a circle", but the others were simply paired up.
For your preferences I almost managed to make everyone perfectly happy (I hope), only a few people will have to write different cards that they wished for (for example if they requested to write only females - interestingly no-one wanted a card from a female, except for Tonks :)).
I also found it very interesting (and difficult for me) that so many people wanted a card from Draco but almost no-one wanted to write one from him...
However, reading and matching up your (often very funny and original) wishes was a really great thing and made me wish for seeing all the cards - more on that later!
So, now to the "rules":
1. You will receive your partner's address and specific wishes for her/his card later this day per email.
2. Please write/draw the card as soon as possible - I think we will be ok if you send them off around the 1st of February (I asked at my post office in Vienna and they told me letters from Europe to America take 5 to 10 days per airmail).
3. Be creative! Even if you can't draw that well, blame it on the character you're writing as :) (I sure will)! Little additions are nice as well - like a pressed flower or a bit of cloth from the character's school robes (just a bad example, sorry).
4. Address the card with the person's name, not the character's name. Some people still live with their parents or at a college and I was asked repeatedly about this. Exceptions will be mentioned in the email.
5. If you really really don't want to participate any more, please TELL ME quickly! It must be so disappointing if you wait for your card and it never arrives... If you tell me, I will find a way to get someone else (or myself) to do it!
6. There will be a "card received" post later on - maybe we will even get pictures? I'll put that up in February.
