The Independent ran a story today on Germany's MaxPlanckForschung using a Cantonese brothel ad -- which it supposedly ran by a German Sinologist -- on the cover of a report on China

Seriously yo. I was reading articles put out around World AIDS Day that something like 80% of prostitutes in Beijing don't use condoms.

:O 80%!? Umm, gross. All we need is a few ladies who have a "large list of clientele" to catch and distribute HIV/clap/HPV to their entire directory and HELLO PROBLEMS.

P.S. Not using condoms in a one-child-policy country = WTMF.

OH, it's okay, 808. As long as they don't sleep with foreigners or gay men, they won't have that problem because STDs don't affect them otherwise!

[Having read the other comments I suspect I won't cause offense, but apologies in advance if required...]

Where I was living in Germany (I don't really mean to pick on Germans, but...) there was a small outbreak of neonazi graffiti, inexplicably in English. My favourite was a swastika with the slogan "Suck the niggers!" I kept wondering if someone should perhaps explain....

I know many people who would've found that hilarious in a sad way and would think it best to leave the original taggers ignorant.
