I'd prefer if you posted links to the articles in the post, and I can link you to more stuff/where the picture came from! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH for wanting to help, but I can't guarantee I won't delete this post in a fit of embarrassment at some point, haha. :"D It's not really the place for doing stuff like this, but it's the one place I post to that gets looked at by the most people.
And also, I agree wrt it being a surprise. I don't want to get tl;dr, but Spain has a huge historical connection with Arab culture, and I'm so happy this movement is inspired by the Egypt revolution.
p.s. I might make a post to my personal LJ at some point, that's less rushed than this one. I'll let you know, so you can use that link if you like. ♥
Whee! Well, there's Méneame to follow links, it's the Spanish Digg.
This post is also helpful: Spanish Revolution's virals. It details the twitter accounts, hashtags, flickrs, etc, that are being constantly updated with info. :D
man. i get that this is really important, and i'm all for signal boosting, but i don't think it's. appropriate? on an RP journal. On your own journal, absolutely, but. I. i feel really bad posting this when it's clearly so important, but it's been making me feel sort of uncomfortable all day :(
No, don't feel bad. If it wasn't obvious by my wording and the replies in this post, I weighed the options before posting this. Truth is, I've been tweeting about this for a couple days, but my twitter is locked and I felt like I wasn't reaching all the people I could reach.
I definitely don't want for this RP journal to become a political blog, because it's not the place, but I also couldn't ignore the fact that my compatriots have been doing all they can for people, including those outside of Spain, to become aware of the movement.
So I absolutely get the discomfort, and I know I'm infringing on people's pretendy fun time games by doing this. All I can say is that this post will be gone before you know it and I apologize.
Also, thanks for waiting for other comments before posting this, because if it had been the first comment, I'd have cried into my cereal ALL DAY. /the most delicate flower
Could you put it behind a cut maybe? Because it being a weekday means that the network is really slow, and i've been seeing it since on the network i got up this morning and it's really making me uncomfortable
Is it a good compromise if I make the picture smaller and lj-cut the links to the articles?
Or I could change the picture to one of the protests (and cut the rest)? I didn't do that initially because I thought this one had less of a political slant and plays into the Monty Python joke.
Uwah. H-- well, okay, not 'hooray for spain', because... problems. But I am in favor of protests and rallies as responses to problems. Here's hoping. Thanks for posting <3
We have elections at a regional-level this Sunday and I'm hoping the movement translates into tangible results. We'll see what happens, and thank YOU for reading!
