Oh, so beautifully, beautifully written. This is wonderful. Definitely bookmarking this! ♥

I love the relationship between Lestrade and Sherlock, and well, Lestrade helping Sherlock get clean is practically my head!canon.

(And Sherlock watching Mulan! Now that's something I'd pay to see :))

Sorry about the lame comment... I'm not a native speaker.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Argh, sorry, wrong account!

Thank you so much! That's incredible to hear.

It's always been my personal head!canon, ever since the point in the first episode where Sherlock turns around and snarls I am clean -- which to me, always signified in my head they'd made some deal that worked on the basis of that being the case -- so it was great to work with the idea.

(It was one of those things I put in for the hell of it, especially since Mulan was my favourite Disney film as a child -- and the army references made me think it'd be the likeliest one to appeal to John.)

Your comment is in no way lame. In fact, it rather made my day.

(Also, I rather love your icon.)

I love your take on Lestrade's semi-paternal relationship with Sherlock, the Yard's resident idiot genius (because really, injecting himself with active bird flu pathogens would be something that Sherlock would do for some really crappy excuse.)

You've managed to capture the slight distance between the men and show that for all that Lestrade has been there over the years, he still is very much on the outside, looking into Sherlock's brain and character.

Also, I loved your "spooked kitten" metaphor and the line "the brightest of the angels serving his time." Very, very elegant.

I always imagine his actual excuse is that childishly he just wants to be the first to have it. It's like being the first one in your class to lose a tooth, or break their arm and get a cast to sign, only turned up a few more notches. TL;DR Sherlock never really got rid of his childish tendencies.

Thank you so much! To me, that's actually a very important part of their relationship, especially because Sherlock prefers to be emotionally detached from people as a whole.

Something about this fandom always has me bringing all my Paradise Lost metaphors out, idek.

I stand in awe of your ability with words here. Truly. This is a really brilliant character study. <3 I love how well you've brought out the dynamic between Sherlock and Lestrade, and I especially love the focus on Sherlock as addict here. *nod* It's a side of him that's right there under the surface so much of the time, and I really, really like how you've brought it out here. *_*

Whoa, that is a wonderful compliment and I am very flattered to be receiving it. Sherlock's addiction interests me because it's so underdeveloped in most adaptations, whereas in ACD!canon, it's described so explicitly -- the effects of it on Sherlock are never really shown, whereas I think the fact he has the personality of an addict is very important to remember when trying to write him at all.

Thank you so much for commenting!

Loved it. The interspersing of each little scene was wonderful. :)

You know my opinion on this. You know I think you're amazing and incredible and that I stand in hopeless awe and envy of your skill. But I'm saying it again here, just in case.

Thank you, babydoll. Thank you so much.
