I'd heard rumors about the Winding Way over the past couple days: not much, just that something had happened. I don't know why I didn't ask around about it: Ichigo's there, and even though I just found him again, I don't even want to think about something happening to him I couldn't be there for. But then he called me and I could tell something was wrong even before he told me what had happened to the children and Mr. Hughes. I'm so glad the witch didn't get him. He shouldn't have to go through this, not after he lost his crew last year.
I can't even imagine- murdered like that, and left hanging for his friends and his children to see him. I know they're humans like the rest of us, but what reason could a human have for that kind of cruelty? It's worse than that monster pirate slashing Yosuke open when it wasn't even a fair fight. And they don't know it, but they were so terrible for no reason at all. As soon as I can get there, the first thing I'll do is get Mr. Hughes back on his feet!
But even though he's coming back, I wish Ichigo and his friends and his company didn't have to go through this. You lose someone who's your friend or your brotherfather, and you lose him in such a cruel, pointless way, and then as suddenly as he's gone, he's back again, and you don't know what to do. I know they're going to be happy, because Ichigo told me how much everyone loves Mr. Hughes, but getting used to him being back when they were just starting to realize he was gone... I hope they can handle it all right.

I have some urgent business to attend to, so I'll be heading out to Garrettstown as soon as possible. I don't know how long I'll be gone, but if the captain comes back with our next job before I do and asks about me, let him know a friend on the Winding Way needed me as soon as I could get there. I'll be back as soon as I can, and if the ship has to leave before I return, I'll catch up with it!
