haha, the boxes thing is from icons I made in 2006. I totally agree that it's passe but some icons in my recent posts are things that are old, old, old and I never posted until recently (the uglier Narnia icons and all the LotR ones except the one that says "the glory that you reap" are from then, lol). It's a little embarrassing to post them but sometimes I see people actually take and use them, so I figure I might as well just clear them out.
I pretty much suck at text most of the time. I have been trying so much harder lately (especially for my icon battle icons) but I'm usually just like "??????" at it a lot. It's like... often I can see where text should go but I have no idea what to put or how exactly to arrange and color it. The ones I posted here were ones I liked a lot but hadn't received any crit on and wanted to see whether people were digging the news things I was trying or not. I think you're right about the text spacing on that Dirty Harry icon. I may go back and fiddle with it ( ... )

Yes. when i don't know what to say for text I leave it off or song lyric, of quote or something.
Oh, and curves and/or levels can be used if you are anti-soft light. lol.
