A short jaunt

*Norrin soars through the star-streaked vault of space towards a blazing blue point of light, leaning into the galactic wind that teases at his expanded senses. Apollo flies next to him, enveloped in the corona of his hyperspace bubble*

::Apollo doesn't put any real thought into flying, he knows that Norrin's got control of this particular situation. Instead he watches the star's streaking by, eyes wide and bright with excitement.::

This is so beautiful... Uh... where are we going?

::Norrin gestures ahead to the actinic blue of the point they are approaching::

On your world it is called 'Sirius'. The Dog Star. Brightest Star in your sky. As one who draws his power from the sun, perhaps you will enjoy the new flavour its light, compared with that of your home.

::The blazing pinprick grows rapidly to a visible disc, many times brighter than Sol::

::Apollo just stares for a long moment, dragged along by Norrin's power with no thought of his own.::

When Jenny brought me the power from the Carrier, it was like... all distilled through her, everything and nothing, but this...

::He waits until they slow to a stop.::

Can I fly about on my own?

::Norrin looks at him with a smile. It is far more open, friendly and expressive here in the vast reaches of space. Here he is in his element, less guarded::

Soon, Apollo. We are almost there. Observe, ahead of us!

::The inferno of Sirius shifts from bright, almost electric blue down through softer shades until it settles upon pure white as they drop beneath the distorting effects of relativistic speed. The white giant is easily forty times larger in apparent size than Earth's sun, and off one shoulder sits a tiny companion star, a paltry smear of light next to its sibling. The two travellers swoop in a wide arc toward it, and within a minute a third object resolves from the glare. A planet, shining with reflected light, sits between the stellar colossus and its dwarf twin.

The bubble around them vanishes, and Norrin makes a sweeping gesture of invitation.::

You need not fear a limit on your time, my friend. Should you need it I will replenish your oxygen supplies. Explore!
